In order to accommodate requests for youth conferences and family reunions surrounding the Mormon Handcart Pageant, and the general busy time July brings, creator of the pageant, Lynn Boswell informed the county commissioners that the dates for the pageant would be changed to June in 2010.
“We feel that it will spread out the activities and free the facility a little bit,” Boswell said. “It will put us head-to-head with the Manti pageant on their last weekend which we feel is a big plus if we can get some of the busing companies doing two pageants and hold people here for a longer period of time.”
Boswell said for next year’s performance they would need the facility from the 14th to the 29th of June with the performance dates falling on the 23-26. It would not overlap with the Good Sam’s Club. This would be a permanent change from the previous July dates.
He also asked if there was a possibility to put up special lighting so they could turn the production around to face the new bleachers.
Commissioner Val Jones said that now would be a good time to address any concerns with the placement of lights because they were in the process of putting up the lights in the new section. He told Boswell to get with the stampede and fair committees, as well as commissioners, to discuss those issues.
The commissioners felt that as long as everything checked out and didn’t conflict with anyone else it would be a good move.
