K. Duane Anderson
1931-2009
Kenneth Duane Anderson, age 78, passed away May 18, 2009 in Nephi, Utah.
He was born February 3, 1931 in Wales, Utah, to Kenneth Ephraim and Clista Jensen Anderson. He married his sweetheart, Helen Anderson, October 8, 1951, in Moroni, Utah.
He loved his wife and family, his cattle, ranch, and traveling. Duane served as Grand Marshal of the Western Ute Stampede Parade in 2008.
He is survived by his wife, Helen; six children, Hal (Elaine) Anderson, LaRee Aagard, Carolyn Baldwin, Larry (Cris) Anderson, Carl (Kerry) Anderson, Kathy (Richard) Whimpey; daughter-in-law, Pat Anderson; 28 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren; sister, Leah (John) Bryner; brothers, Lynn J. (Glee) Anderson, and Boyd (Katherine) Anderson. Preceded in death by his son Brent; grandchildren, Trent Aagard and Cassidy Anderson; brother, Glen Anderson.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 22, 2009 in the Nephi 8th Ward, 222 S. 100 E. Friends and family may call Friday prior to the service at the church from 9-10:30 a.m. Interment will be in Vine Bluff Cemetery, Nephi, Utah.
Colleen Ballow
1925-2009
Colleen Snow Ballow, 83, of South Ogden, Utah, died peacefully Friday morning, May 15, 2009 from cause’s incident to age. Colleen was born August 31, 1925 in Salt Lake City, Utah, the daughter of Don Carlos (Carl) Snow and Pearl Blackett Snow. Within a few years, the family moved to Nephi, Utah, where Colleen spent her early years and graduated from Juab High School in 1943. Following high school she attended LDS Business College in Salt Lake City.
In 1942 Colleen met Henry D. (Bud) Ballow, Jr. while he was on military leave during WW II. It was “love at first sight” and on November 4, 1946 they were married. One year later their marriage was solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple.
Bud worked as a Quality Control Specialist with the Minuteman Missile program and later at AFPRO/Thiokol. Colleen and Bud spent many years living in Denver, CO, Rapid City, SD, and California before returning to the Ogden area in 1966. During these years, Colleen supported her husband in his career, performed duties as an excellent wife and mother, worked in the schools, and demonstrated her artistic abilities through sewing, crafts, tole painting and china painting. The couple raised three children and enjoyed doing many activities together, especially traveling. Bud died in 1985. Colleen married Loren Alma Heiner in 1990. Their marriage ended in divorce but they remained friends.
Colleen was an accomplished china painter and shared her skills with many people as a certified china painting instructor. She volunteered numerous hours at the South Ogden Senior Citizen Center and was an active member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers, South Ogden China Painters Association, and Utah China Painters Association. Colleen continued with her love of traveling and visited numerous world sites.
Colleen was an active member of the Ogden LDS 65th and 5th Wards, serving in many capacities in Primary, Relief Society, Ward Librarian and ward choir. She had served as a temple worker at the Ogden LDS Temple.
Surviving are two daughters: Mrs. Grant C. (Linda Marie) Holmes of West Weber, and Mrs. Kim L. (Diana Lynn) Wilberg of Woodbridge, Virginia; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers, Clark Blackett Snow, Tooele, Utah, and Robert Darrel Snow, Nephi, Utah.
Colleen was preceded in death by her husband, Henry D. Ballow, her son Michael Henry Ballow, her parents, Don Carlos Snow and Pearl Blackett Snow and one brother, Don Lamar Snow.
Funeral services will be held Friday, May 22, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the Lindquist Mortuary, 3408 Washington Boulevard, Ogden, Utah, with Bishop Blake Sears of the South Ogden 5th Ward conducting.
Friends may call Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the mortuary and on Friday one hour prior to services. Interment will be at the Washington Heights Memorial Park in Ogden, Utah.

Eric Irvin Jarrett
1930-2009
Eric Irvin Jarrett, age78, loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother passed away May 11, 2009 in Provo, Utah, from complications of leukemia.
He was born September 20, 1930 in Nephi, Utah, to Irvin and Ethel Jarrett. He married Edith Norine Gibson December 2, 1950 in Mona, Utah.
He attended Nephi schools. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In his early years he was a member of the Nephi Riding Club and enjoyed chasing wild horses and camping.
He is survived by his wife, Edith of Nephi; three sons, Steven (Sharon) Jarrett of Nephi, Gary (Sherri) Jarrett of Nephi, Jeff (Natalie) Jarrett of Winnemucca, NV; 10 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; sisters, Ranae (Ken) Kay of Kearns, UT, Helen (Robert) Price of Salt Lake City, UT. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Doris Jarrett.
Graveside services were held May 15, 2009 at 12 Noon at Vine Bluff Cemetery, Nephi, Utah.
Eugene M. Washer
Our loving, son, brother, father, grandpa and friend returned home into our Heavenly Father’s arms Sunday, May 10, 2009, surrounded in the love of his family. Eugene was born to Eugene A Washer and Lillian M. Washer in Oceanside, Long Island. They then moved to Saranac, NY, where he grew up and graduated.
He served 3 years in the Air Force as an airplane mechanic. He married and had 3 children: Gene, Suzanne, and John and later divorced. He drove truck for over 30 years, traveling through the states. He earned several safe diver awards.
He met his beautiful wife, Joanne F Washer, and moved to Murray, UT, where he lived for many years. He moved to Levan 2 years ago to be closer to his family. His passion was restoring classic vehicles and spending time with his children and grandchildren. We enjoyed the fun stories he would tell us about his life experiences and we will miss them.
Eugene is preceded in death by his father, Eugene A. Washer; his loving wife, Joanne F. Washer; and his brother-in-law and friend, William MaCaffery; and many other loved ones. He is survived by his mother, Lillian M. Washer; and sister, Marie (Tommy) Hirt of Castleton NY; children, Gene (Karla) Washer of Vancouver WA; Suzanne (Chris) Durpras of Burlington, Conn; and John (Charlene) Washer of Levan, UT; 9 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. We will miss you Dad. Until we meet again.
