Newly elected officials of Juab County were sworn into office by Juab County Judge Sharla T. Williams on Monday, January 3, at 3 p.m. in commission chambers.
New to office was Rick Carlton, Republican, who defeated LuWayne Walker, Democratic incumbent, for county commission seat A. in November.
Those reelected and retaining office were: Chad P. Winn, Republican, county commission seat B; Jared Eldridge, Democrat, county attorney, Patricia M. Ingram, Democrat, county clerk/auditor; Craig Sperry, Democrat, county recorder; Alden B. Orme, Republican, county sheriff; and DeEtte Worthington, Republican, county treasurer.
Shirl J. Nichols, Democrat, county assessor, was sworn into office earlier in the day by Ingram in her capacity as county clerk. Nichols was exempted from the later ceremony by a family emergency.
Williams, who serves as Juab County Justice Court Judge, Levan City Justice Court Judge and Nephi City Justice Court Judge, received a more than 80 percent retention vote in the November election.
County judges are initially appointed by a county commission and then stand for retention election every four years. She was appointed in Juab County in January 1991.
