Archer Western Contractors has been selected as Construction Manager for the Mona Wastewater Treatment Plant.
Now bids from qualified subcontractors to complete each component of the project have been requested.
Jake Prestwich, a civil engineering manager for Forsgren, a civil and environmental engineering and consulting firm attended Mona City Council.
Prestwich said that he had made copies of the three lowest bids for the city council to review. However, of the 12 bids submitted, in his opinion, Condie was the best choice.
The project consists of the construction of a 0.50 MGD membrane bioreactor wastewater treatment plant including earthwork, grading, paving, sidewalk, landscaping, dewatering, tunnel boring, yard piping, concrete, masonry, structural steel, metal roofing, bridge crane, process mechanical piping and equipment, plumbing, HVAC (Heating, Ventilating, and Air Conditioning), electrical, coatings, and interior finishes.
"The project is fully funded through construction by State Revolving Fund loans and a United States Army Corps of Engineers Section 595 grant," said Prestwich.
Inclusion of Federal funding will necessitate certified payroll and Davis Bacon wage rates.
He said that Qualified Disadvantaged Business Enterprises (DBEs) are encouraged to submit bids on this project. Companies that use a subcontractor are required to make a good faith effort at soliciting DBE subcontractor participation.
A non-mandatory pre-bid was scheduled for Wednesday August 4, at the project site located near the corner of 540 N Street and N 60 W.
Subcontractors were strongly encouraged to attend the pre-bid to view the site and discuss the requirements of the bid documents.
Subcontractor bids will be due on August 19. Times and requirements of the subcontract bids are prescribed in the Subcontractor Instructions to Bidders.
"Archer Western reserves the right to reject any and all bids," he said.
