  • Heber C. Taylor named Grand Marshal for Levan's Pioneer Day

Heber C. Taylor was born in Levan in October of 1915. From the very beginning he loved his home town and never ventured very far from it.
He spent his life working hard as a dry land farmer and did quite well with the challenging soil and climate of the area. He also spent early years working in the plaster quarry east of town and in later years he worked with the County Road Department, keeping back roads clear and passable.
He married Vinese Shepherd and they raised 4 children who still praise them for the love and care that they gave. Heber sacrificed much for his family and for the people of Levan over the years.
Selfless services he gave during his life include: Town Mayor, Town Board Member, Water Board Member, County Deputy Sheriff, Ward Clerk for many years, Ward Bishop.
Heber always worked for the success and improvement of Levan. He championed water rights, improved water service, utility improvements, and expansion of the City Cemetery.
During his early married life most of the people in Levan had their walls papered and their pigs slaughtered by him.
Current residents do not know the immense good this man gave to his community. The older citizens will all stand as witnesses to the fact that he touched everyone of their lives for good.
