  • JHS Choir receives highest rating possible at state competition

The Juab Concert Choir performed amazingly well at Utah Music Education Association State Choral Festival on Thursday May 14, 2015.
Eighty-five students competed at Libby Gardener Hall at the University of Utah under the direction of Mrs. Tana Esplin accompanied by Mrs. Margaret Thomson. The Choir performed three songs, Dos Cantos Apamuy Shungo by Gerardo Guevara, The Ground by Ola Gjeilo, and Rock My Soul a traditional spiritual arranged by Brian Tate. A panel of UMEA judges awarded the choir straight 1's or Superior, the highest and best rating possible. The judges were pleased with the sound quality and focus from a 3A choir. They also commented on the musical quality and technical skills.
Juab High School competed with schools from 3A, 4A and 5A regions to earn a spot at the State Festival. The Choir performed equal to 4A and 5A schools who participated in the festival.
The choir had their Spring Concert on Monday, May 18 where they performed their Superior rated songs for the public.
