The fate of Levan's ambulance appears to have been
resolved. The Levan Town council decided to pursue its own
license and work as a separate entity from the county.
The ambulance had been operating under the county's
license. The town was doing their own billing and providing
its own insurance; liability as well as coverage on the
vehicle and all equipment on board.
Bruce Rowley said that the county wanted to assume
Levan's ambulance or have Levan acquire its own license. He
said that it was up to the council to make the final
decision, though.
Ryan Aagard was concerned about having enough people to
staff the ambulance. Mr. Rowley reported that there are
currently five on staff with four more people willing to
take the training in the fall.
He stated that to get a license would cost about $500.00
for four years.
Townspeople felt that it would be a tragedy not to have
an ambulance in town. They felt that the current EMTs were
doing a wonderful job and that it would be beneficial to the
residents of town to have personnel who could respond
quickly to an emergency.
