It will cost approximately $1,600 to build a small
room for storage of equipment for the local driver's license
division.
Commissioners thought they had given formal permission
to allow the driver's license division to make a small
storage area in the cultural hall in the basement of the
county building, but they had not.
"I need the paperwork to show that I have official
permission," said Cheryl Searle, representing the state.
She said the division also wanted commissioners to
renew the lease for another full two years.
"We want to keep the diver's license division in Juab
County for our folks here," said Neil Cook, commission
chairman.
Searle said she may be back in the near future to get
permission from the commission to have a commercial license
driver's testing site at the county fairgrounds.
She said the decision had not been finalized to allow
that testing to occur in Juab County but, once it was, she
would come back to iron out the technicalities.
"Things are going perfectly at the county jail," said
Searle.
She said the Utah Highway Patrol was happy to have an
office at the county jail which had been built there and had
opened recently.
The same sort of UHP office was being built in Price,
said Searle. "I told them to come and look at the set-up
here."
She said the situation had proved to be beneficial for
both the sheriff's office and for the UHP.
Only a small section of the cultural hall will be used
as a storage room for the driver's license division, said
Searle.
The site is currently as comfortable seating for those
visiting in the cultural hall. It is the home of a sofa and
forms a small alcove. Only the alcove area will be used.
