The Times-News won two first place plaques and one third
place certificate in the Better Newspaper Contest at the
Utah Press Convention held March 20-22 in Mesquite,
Nevada.
The newspaper received the 1st place Harrison R. Merrill
plaque for Best Front Page for Group I. The award was
sponsored by Brigham Young University.
It also received 1st place honors for Best News
Photography in Group I. The winning photo featured the bus
accident on the Nebo Loop road. This award was sponsored by
the LDS Church.
A 3rd place certificate was awarded for Best R.O.P. Ad in
Group I. The entry was for King's Nursery's Grand Opening.
This award was sponsored by Newspaper Agency
Corporation.
Newspapers from around the state compete for these honors
in three groups. The awards were handed out at a banquet
held at the Casablanca Resort and Casino.
