Joyce Francom
Joyce Downs Francom passed away March 24, 2003 after a
valiant battle with cancer. She was born April 9, 1930 to
Edward V. and Gwendolyn Ockey Downs in Nephi, Utah. She
married Lynn D. Francom in the Manti LDS Temple on Sept. 7,
1948.
She taught dance and piano and played keyboards for a
dance band for many years. She served in many capacities in
her church, including the Young Women, Primary and Sunday
School. She directed road shows and ward performances and
accompanied and directed many ward choirs. Her favorite
calling was working with Young Adults.
She supported her family in all their activities,
especially the ballpark.
Joyce was preceded in death by her mother and father,
3 brothers and 2 sisters.
She is survived by her husband, Lynn; a sister, Mrs.
Myrl Garbett; six children, Steven L. (Sandy) Francom;,Kim
E. (Debbie) Francom, Jo Lynn (Murray) Griner, Paul R.
(Terry) Francom, Carol L. (Todd) Thacker, and Jeffrey M.
(April) Francom; 25 grandchildren and 14
great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 27, 2003
at 11:00 a.m. in the Sunset Hills 1st Ward, 540 West 935
North, American Fork, Utah. A viewing will be held Wednesday
evening from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Walker Sanderson Funeral
Home, 646 East 800 North, Orem, and at the church on
Thursday morning from 9 to 10:45 a.m. prior to
service. Burial will be in the Levan Cemetery.
The requests that blood donations be made to the Red
Cross and monetary donations to the American Cancer
Society.
Evan Greenhalgh
Evan Keith Greenhalgh, age 66, died March 21, 2003 in
Sacramento, California, after suffering an aneurysm. He was
born June 28, 1936 in Nephi, Utah, to Leland and Sadie Green
Greenhalgh. He and his wife, Alice, were married for 43
years. He was a resident of Vacaville, California, for 39
years.
He served in the U.S. Air Force for 12 years. He had
been a trucker with Sheldon Oil Company for 26 years, prior
to retiring. He was an active member of the Vacaville Moose
Lodge #861, as well as the Sedalia, Missouri Moose Lodge,
the Vacaville Art League, and was a member of the Teamster's
Union Local #490.
He is survived by his wife, Alice of Vacaville;
children, Yvonne Velasquez of Vacaville, Deborah Banks of
Boise, Idaho, Jerry Greenhalgh of Vacaville, Steven
Greenhalgh of Vacaville; 3 brothers, Marion Lee Greenhalgh
of Yucaipa, California, Steven Painter of Dundee, Missouri,
and Gene Painter of Thayne, Wyoming; 2 sisters, Jeniel Wing
of Provo, and Joyce McCaffery of Nephi; 11 grandchildren;
and 1 great-granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his
parents, and brother, David L. Greenhalgh.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, 10 a.m. in
the Nadeau Family Funeral Home, Vacaville, California.
Interment in the Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery.
Decima Jacobsen
Decima Larsen Jacobsen, age 87, passed away March 20,
2003 in Nephi, Utah.
She was born May 26, 1915 to Erastus Peter Larsen and
Inger Maria Ludvigson Lamb. She married Andrew Verful
Jacobsen Sept. 9, 1940 in Brigham City, Utah. Their marriage
was later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple. He died April
18, 1978.
She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ
of Latter-day Saints. She found joy in sharing her talents
of quilting and cooking.
She is survived by her children, Jim Jacobsen of Mona,
Ronald (Lynda) Jacobsen;,Scott (Julie) Jacobsen of Mona; 10
grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; brother, Morge Larsen
of West Valley City. She was preceded in death by 3
brothers, Dean, Wilson and Jay; 2 sisters, Ethel and Mae;
daughter-in-law, Teresa Jacobsen.
Funeral services were held March 24, 2003 in the Nephi
North Stake Center. Interment in the Nephi City
Cemetery.
Leila Wilkey
Leila Hone Wilkey, age 99, passed away in Provo, Utah on
March 23, 2003. Leila was born June 17, 1903 in Benjamin,
Utah to George Adams and Nora Stewart Hone.
She married Carl Leon Wilkey, June 29, 1931 in the
Salt Lake LDS Temple. They made their home and raised their
family in Nephi. Carl passed away Aug. 11, 1970. She moved
to Provo in 1995.
Leila loved learning and enjoyed teaching kindergarten
for 25 years in the Juab School District.
She was active in The Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter-day Saints, serving as Stake Primary President,
Mutual leader and Sunday School Teacher. She enjoyed
searching for and learning about her ancestors and inspired
many others to seek for their genealogical roots.
Leila is survived by her children Lois (Milton) Larsen
of Provo, Carolee (Frank) Seat of Tooele, and George (Jean)
Wilkey of Ogden; 13 grandchildren; 51 great-grandchildren
;and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 27, 2003
at 11:30 a.m. in the Nephi 1st Ward Chapel, 220 South 100
East, Nephi. Friends and family may call one hour prior to
services. Internment will be at Vine Bluff Cemetery,
Nephi.
