  • Elected county officials sworn in at commission meeting


SWORN INTO OFFICE • Elected county officials were sworn into office at commission meeting Monday morning. They are Shirl Nichols, left, DeEtte Worthington, Craig J. Sperry, Alaina Lofgran, Clinton L. Painter, Douglas Anderson, and Rick Carlton. Not pictured was Jared W. Eldridge. They were sworn in by Judge Sharla Williams.

Juab County Justice Court Judge Sharla Williams administered the oath of office to elected county officials in a special ceremony held at the county commission chambers at 10 a.m. Monday.
Sworn-in were Shirl Nichols, assessor; DeEtte Worthington, treasurer; Craig J. Sperry, recorder/surveyor; Alaina Lofgran, clerk/auditor; Clinton L. Painter, commissioner; Douglas Anderson, county sheriff; and Rick Carlton, commissioner.
Jared W. Eldridge, county attorney, was administered the oath of office later because he had to be in court during the time the oath was administered.
He ran for the office on the Republican ticket and was unopposed in the November election.
County Commission Seat A, went to Painter, Republican, last November when he defeated Robert Garrett, Democrat; Carlton, won his second term for County Commission Seat B as a Republican. He ran unopposed.
Nichols, Republican, was also unopposed for county assessor.
Lofgran, Republican, defeated Sharon S. Jarrett, Democrat, in the November election to become the clerk/auditor.
Pat Ingram, who had held the position, determined not to run for reelection.
Sperry, Republican, defeated Robert M. Williams, Democrat, for the position of recorder/surveyor. Sperry has held the job for many years.
Anderson, Democrat, defeated Michael Tischner, Republican, for the job of county sheriff in November. Alden Orme did not seek reelection.
Worthington, Republican, ran unopposed for the office of treasurer.
