Jeanne Gowers Yates
1930-2010
Jeanne Gowers Yates, age 80, passed away Saturday, December 4, 2010, at her home in Nephi, Utah.
She was born November 15, 1930 in Lynndyl, Utah, to Clarence Arthur and Virginia Clyde Gowers. She married Dee Willis Yates on August 17, 1949.
In 1962 they purchased the old Bishop house, which was the 1st permanent dwelling in Delta, Utah. Here, they raised 7 children. In 1971 they returned to Nephi.
Survived by her children, Mont (Glenda), Clyde (Donetta), Cheryl (George), Christine (Dick), DeEtte (Scott), Marlow (Darla); 19 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren; sisters, LaVee Austin and Claudia Briggs. Preceded in death by her husband, Dee; her son, Wade, her parents; 3 sisters, Clarice, Joyce, and Linda.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, December 10, 2010, at Nephi North Stake Center, 1125 North 400 East. Family and friends may call Thursday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home, 94 West 300 North, Nephi and at the church one hour prior to the services. Interment will be in Vine Bluff Cemetery, Nephi, Utah.
Vern Wilmer Sorenson
1921-2010
Vern Wilmer Sorenson, age 89, passed away Saturday, December 4, 2010, in Orem, Utah.
He was born June 10, 1921 in Levan, Utah, to Peter and Florence Edna Bosh Sorenson. He married his sweetheart Olivene Christensen May 24, 1947 in Levan, Utah. The marriage was later solemnized in the Manti Temple.
He attended school in Levan and graduated from Juab High School in Nephi. He attended Utah State Agricultural College, now known as Utah State University. He served in the Navy Seabees during World War II. They lived in California for a few years and then moved to Provo to raise their family. He worked at Lockheed Aircraft and other jobs while living in California. He worked for Geneva Steel in Orem for 36 years. He loved the hunting trips, family reunions, gardening (especially the tomatoes) and the grandkids.
He was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in various positions which included home teacher, financial clerk, and High Priest Secretary.
He is survived by sons Bryce (Lora) Sorenson of Orem, Utah, Larry (Jan) Sorenson of Provo, Utah, and daughters Sherrie (Dan) Houston of Moorpark, California, and Jana (Royce) of Plymouth, Utah; 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; a very special nephew, Keo Sorenson, that was like a brother, and a sister-in-law Blanche Pexton.
He is preceded in death by his wife, parents, a brother, Ernest Sorenson, and three sisters, Vennetta Petersen, Eudene Warner Beach, and Lucille Thorpe.
The family wishes to give a special thanks to the caregivers at Beehive Homes and especially Sondra Garrido with Lifepath.
A viewing will be held on Friday evening 6 to 8 p.m. at Pleasant View Second Ward Chapel 650 Stadium Avenue, Provo, Utah. Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 11, 2010, at 11 a.m. at the Levan Ward Chapel 25 North 100 East, Levan, Utah. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the services. Wade R. Hansen
1974-2010
Wade Reese Hansen, age 36, passed away December 4, 2010 at his home in Nephi, Utah.
He was born January 18, 1974 in Provo, Utah, to Albert LaVerl Hansen and Kathy Sherwood Hansen.
He graduated from Juab High School in 1992. He worked as a brick mason. Wade enjoyed being in the outdoors, shooting guns, and spending time with his sons and family. He was fun loving, joking and friendly to everyone. He was soft hearted and could never tell anyone no.
He is survived by his sons, Colby R. Hansen and Kyler W. Hansen; mother, Terescia Butler, and Karter Hansen; mother, Wendy Taylor; mother, Kathy Hansen; sister, Angie (Kevin) Cook; grandmother, Mildred Sherwood. Preceded in death by his grandfather, Reese Sherwood and father, LaVerl Hansen.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, December 9, 2010 in the Nephi North Stake Center, 1125 North 400 East. Family and friends may call one hour prior to the services. Interment will be in Vine Bluff Cemetery, Nephi, Utah. Funeral directors, Anderson Funeral Home.
