  • New Voting Equipment When You Arrive At The Polling Location


•Check in at the registration table and give your name and address to the Registration Judge. (If you are a first-time voter, you will be asked to provide valid voter identification. Valid voter identification means:

•a form of identification that bears the name and photograph of the voter;

•or two forms of identification that bear the name of the voter and provide evidence that the voter resides in the voting precinct.

•NOTE: Identification is not required for those who are 65 or older or disabled.

•You will be asked to sign the Official Register.

•The Ballot Judge will activate a voter access card using an encoder and direct you to a touch screen voting machine.

Using The Touchscreen Voting Equipment

•Insert the voter access card into the slot at the upper right side of the touch screen. The card should be face up with the arrow pointing left. Push the card firmly in until it clicks.

•Before voting, read the "Instructions to Voters" on the first screen. Poll workers will be available to assist you if you have any questions.

•You can magnify or change the contrast of your ballot to increase readability.

Touch "NEXT" when you are ready to begin voting

•To vote, touch the screen on the line of the candidate or issue you wish to vote for.

•To change your vote, retouch or deselect the candidate again to undo your vote.

•Touch "Next" to advance to the next page.

•Touch "Back" to go back.

Write-In Instructions

•In order to vote for a "write-in" candidate, touch "Write-In."

•A keyboard will appear where you may type in the name.

•Touch the letters to spell your write-in candidate's name.

•Touch "Record Write-In" to finish your selection.

•Your write-in selection will appear on the ballot screen. If you need to make a correction, touch the selection to clear the write-in box.

Review Your Choices on the Summary Screen

•Red highlighted races indicate that you did not vote for a candidate or issue. You may leave races blank if you wish. The rest of your ballot will be counted.

•If you wish to go back and change your vote for any race, touch the race you wish to return to.

•To go back, touch a race or touch "Review Ballot."

Print Your Ballot for Verification

•To verify your selections on the paper copy, press "Print Ballot."

•After you review the ballot printout, you can either cast or reject your ballot.

•If you wish to make changes, you may reject your ballot and start over.

•NOTE: You will not receive a paper copy of your ballot. Your printed ballot is concealed in a secure canister for future reference if needed.

When you are ready to record your vote, touch "Cast Ballot"

•When your vote has been recorded and your voter card has been ejected, remove the card.

•Remove your voter access card and return it to a poll worker!

Finding Your Polling Location

•Once you register to vote, you will be sent a Voter Information Card, which lists your precinct number and various political jurisdictions, i.e. congressional district, state house and senate, county council, city council, local school board, etc.

•About 3 weeks prior to each countywide election (held in even-numbered years) every household will be mailed a Polling Location Notice, which will identify the polling location for the election as well as early voting locations.

•In order to vote on Election Day, voters need to go to the polling location identified on the Polling Location Notice where their name will be listed on the Official Register.
