LaVeryl Kelsey Winn
1925 ~ 2017

Mildred LaVeryl Kelsey Winn, died on October 19, 2017 in Nephi, Utah.

LaVeryl was born to Ira Milton and Alverta Ann Houghton Kelsey on August 5, 1925 at Starr Ranch, north of Mona, Utah.

LaVeryl went to school in Mona and Nephi where she met her sweetheart, DeVon Charles Winn. LaVeryl and Devon were married on September 3, 1942. The marriage was later solemnized in the Manti Temple. They were married for 63 years. Together they raised five children: DeeAnn (Glen) Searle of Levan, Peggy Wankier of Nephi, Joel Winn of Levan, Mark (JoAnn)Winn and Deborah (Kim) Hall of Nephi.

LaVeryl graduated from Juab High School later in her life. She was very proud of this accomplishment. She worked side by side with DeVon on the farm for many years. She held several jobs outside of the home. She worked at NRP and Moroni Processing Plant for several years. Her favorite job was as a “Farmer’s Wife.”

LaVeryl was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She has held several positions throughout the years. She and Devon were Stake Dance Leaders, which she talked about often.

LaVeryl loved to do yard work and until a few years ago kept up her own yard. She loved to read, crochet and be surrounded by her children and grandchildren.

LaVeryl is survived by her five children, 23 grandchildren, 69 great-grandchildren and 20 great-great-grandchildren. She has one brother, Ted Kelsey, who resides in Elko, Nevada.

She is preceded in death by her husband, DeVon; her parents; two brothers, Milton Elwin (Bus) Kelsey and Jerry Glade Kelsey; son-in-law, Jack Wankier; and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 24, 2017 at the Nephi North Stake Center. Interment, Vine Bluff Cemetery.


Carol Marguerette Sperry Taylor
1936 - 2017

Carol Marguerette Sperry Taylor passed away on October 13, 2017 at the age of 80.

Carol was born on December 25, 1936 in Nephi, Utah to Gean Sperry and Ruth Christensen Love. She married Robert Taylor on November 3, 1956 and later welcomed five children into their home.

Carol enjoyed gardening, sewing, and quilting. Her children and grandchildren brought great happiness to her life, and she found joy in spending time with them, passing on these hobbies. Carol’s wonderful sense of humor and spirited personality brought excitement and amusement into the lives of those who knew her.

Carol is survived by her children Jeff (Stacey) Taylor, Cyndi (Greg) Anderson, Laura (Jeff) Williams, and Melissa (Anthony) Bair; grandchildren Zack, Austin, Brionna, Sierra, Gabi, DJ, Taylor, Ty, Jagger, Payton, Easton, and Eli; six great-grandchildren; sister Joan Taylor and brother Jim (Dixie) Sperry. She is preceded in death by her husband Robert Taylor, daughter Valarie Hope, mother Ruth Christensen Love, father Gean Sperry, two brothers, and eight sisters.

A graveside service was held on Saturday, October 21, 2017 at 10 am at Nephi City Cemetery, 400 East 400 North, Nephi UT. Online condolences may be shared at www.jenkins-soffe.com.


Robert Goble Lyman
1945 ~ 2017

Robert Goble Lyman, age 72, passed away from cancer on October 19, 2017. He was born on January 29, 1945 to Joseph Hunter and Zetta Goble Lyman. He was raised in Nephi and graduated from Juab High School. He married Karen LaRee Garlick on September 28, 1963 in the Manti LDS Temple. They had three children, James Alvin (Cindy) Lyman, Rochelle (John) Manglinong and Josette (Clay) Kerr.

Robert worked hard to provide for his family and retired from the Operating Engineers Local 3. He was honest and his handshake was his word. He has always enjoyed camping with family and friends. He enjoyed long rides on his side by side and picked up the hobby of building bird houses.

He is survived by three sisters, Kathleen Watters, Rosalie (Byron) Wilkey and Lavinia (Wayne) Steele; brother, Richard Alvin Lyman; seven grandchildren, Ronald (Jaymee) Chiasson, Joseph and Cassie Lyman, Kelsey, Colby (Marissa) and Connor Manglinong, Miranda (Michael) Greenhalgh and Morgan Kerr; two great-grandchildren, Campbell and Ruby Chiasson.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Zetta Lyman; brother, Larry Joseph Lyman and sister, Margaret Bills.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at the Nephi North Stake Center, 1125 North 400 East, Nephi, Utah. Interment, Vine Bluff Cemetery.
