  • Juab School District announces enrollment numbers for first day of school

Looking at the numbers for the first day of school, Juab School District had a grand total of 1,996 students in its various schools.

At Mona Elementary, 39 students are enrolled in Kindergarten; 34 in 1st grade; 40 in 2nd grade; 29 in 3rd grade; 39 in 4th grade; 23 in 5th grade; 47 in 6th grade; and 4 were self-contained. Mona's grand total is 255.

Red Cliffs Elementary showed a decrease in students because of the split K-6 situation. Superintendent Kirk Wright said that Red Cliffs decreased by 100 students. There are 74 students enrolled in Kindergarten; 78 in 1st grade; 63 in 2nd grade; 80 in 3rd grade; 82 in 4th grade; 81 in 5th grade; 68 in 6th grade; and 11 self-contained. The grand total for Red Cliffs is 537 students. Three teachers, Clint Anderson, Jacquelyn Rasmussen, and Hadley Christensen, have 28 or 29 students in his or her classes.

Nebo View Elementary showed a grand total of 322 students enrolled on the first day of school. Kindergarten showed 42 students; 62 in 1st grade; 35 in 2nd grade; 50 in 3rd grade; 40 in 4th grade; 39 in 5th grade; 50 in 6th grade; and 4 self-contained. Raymond Nielsen, 6th grade teacher, had the most students in his class at 27.

One-hundred and sixty students are enrolled in the 7th grade. One-hundred and fifty-two students are enrolled in 8th grade. Fourteen are self-contained. Juab Junior High showed a grand total of 326 students.

The board was concerned with some teachers having large classroom loads. Scott McKay, science teacher, showed 37 students in one of his science classes at the junior high.

Juab High School has 133 freshmen, 147 sophomores, 139 juniors, and 124 seniors. There are 13 self-contained students. The high school's grand total is 556 students.

Teachers who had an extra classroom load include Tina Squire, P.E. 9 with 47 students in one class, and Joseph Heywood with 38 students in Advanced Composition. Most of the classes saw numbers between 21-36 students per class.
