  • Fees for the use of county facilities are now standardized

FAIRGROUND BUILDINGS •The Juab County Commission has set a standard set of rates for Juab County Facilities. The indoor roping building at the Juab County Fairgrounds costs users $150 per day for one day and $125 each day after. County residents will pay less in fees than groups from out of the county, commissioners stated.

Changes in the fees charged for Juab County facilities rentals have been revised and have also been standardized for all users.

Juab County Commissioners adopted the schedule after working on a revision for several months.

It was determined to charge damage, key, and cleaning deposits on some facilities, and to have a resident and non-resident use fee schedule. In addition, large groups will be charged at a different rate.

"We have to take into consideration the use of utilities at the fairgrounds for large group use," said Wm. Boyd Howarth, commission chair.

The Nephi City sewer system does not run to the fairgrounds. That county property has a septic system and has to be cared for as any septic drainage system must be. Therefore, large-group use means that the system needs care sooner.

Nevertheless, large groups may rent the cultural hall, the multipurpose building, the recreation building, the big arena, the small arena, and reserve the indoor roping barn for $150 for the first day and $125 per day for each day thereafter.

If the multi-purpose kitchen is needed it can be reserved for a large group for an additional $50 per day, and the sound system in that building can be reserved for an additional $25 per day.

Large groups can also use the sound system in the recreation building, the big arena, and the indoor roping barn for an additional $25 per day.

"We are charging residents of the county less money to rent facilities than we are charging non-residents because our county residents pay taxes to our county," said Howarth.

For that reason, non residents will pay $20 per hour or $150 a day to rent the cultural hall, the multipurpose building, or the recreation building. Residents will pay $15 per hour or $100 per day for those same facilities.

The multi-purpose building kitchen can be rented for an additional $35 per day for residents and $50 per day for non-residents.

The sound system in that building and also in the recreation building, big arena and roping barn can be used for $25 per day for both residents and non-residents.

Non-residents will pay $15 per day for stalls and residents will pay $10 per day. Corrals will be rented to non-residents for 75-cents per head per day and to residents for 50-cents per head per day.

Those wishing to use the big arena, for other than large group activities, may reserve the facility for $2 per hour or $48 per day if they are residents, or $5 per hour or $150 per day if they are non-residents.

A yearly permit can be obtained from the county clerk's office for $50 per person or $100 per family for residents of Juab County. Non-residents may also obtain the permit for $100 per person or $150 per family.

Those reserving the indoor roping barn will pay $15 per hour whether they are residents or non-residents.

A cleaning deposit, which must be paid in advance, of $75 is charged those using the cultural hall, multi-purpose building, and the recreation building. A $50 fee is charged for the indoor roping barn, and for the stalls a $25 cleaning fee is charged. Those using the corrals will pay a $100 cleaning deposit.

Those who need keys to facilities they have rented must pay $25 deposit, in advance, for the key to the cultural hall, multi-purpose building, recreation building and the indoor roping barn. The deposit will be returned when the key is returned.

Commissioners determined that they needed to collect sufficient money from those renting facilities to repair damages if they should occur.

A damage deposit for buildings must be paid in advance of the activity planned.

For the cultural hall, multi-purpose building, multi-purpose sound system, the recreation building, the recreation building sound system, the big arena sound system, the indoor roping barn sound system, stalls and corrals, a damage deposit fee of up to $5,000 can be charged to be paid in advance.

The big arena, small arena and the indoor roping barn will require $100 damage deposit.

Commissioner Neil Cook said he had looked into the fees charged in other counties in the state and found the prices quoted to be quite fair.

The new schedule comes into effect immediately.
