Maurice LaDon Memmott
1927-2007
Our loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother Maurice LaDon Memmott was born on October 18, 1927 to Samuel F. and Ida L. Memmott in Nephi, Utah.
He passed away peacefully on July 13, 2007 with his loving family surrounding him at his home, the same home that he was born in and raised his family in.
He married Joyce Hansen on March 29, 1950 in the Manti Temple. Together they raised six children. He was a loving, caring, wonderful husband and father and supported his wife and children in all their endeavors.
Maurice supported his family as a dairy farmer and state brand inspector. He loved the land and enjoyed working on the farm with his sons. After retiring from farming, he worked for Central Utah Mental Health. As long as his health would permit, he spent countless hours driving tractor and working the land on the church welfare farm.
He was a faithful member of the LDS Church, serving in numerous Stake Presidencies, Bishoprics and High Councils. He served a mission to Samoa and later served a mission with his wife in Richmond, Virginia. Upon returning home, they received a call and served as ordinance workers in the Manti Temple. They also served as part time missionaries in the LDS Family Services Substance Abuse program.
Maurice loved life and he loved people. He spent many hours visiting others and lifting their spirits. He was blessed with the gift of singing and used this musical talent to bring joy and comfort to others both in the church and throughout the community.
Survived by his loving wife and children: Gail (Bruce) Pilling, Atlanta, Georgia; Chazel (Lloyd) Olpin, Jill ( Russell) Birchfield, Sam (Margie) Memmott, Chris (Lynelle) Memmott, Nathan (Stefanie) Memmott, all of Nephi. He is also survived by his brothers Lawrence, Byron, Heber, Duane Memmott and 21 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services will held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 18, 2007 at the Nephi 8th ward Chapel, 222 South 100 East, Nephi, Utah. Viewing will be held Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home, 94 W. 300 N. and at the church from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the services. Interment will be in Vine Bluff Cemetery, Nephi,Utah.
Rex Gordon Kay
1939-2007
Rex Gordon Kay, age 67, passed away July 11, 2007 at his home in Nephi, Utah.
He was born September 17, 1939 in Nephi, Utah, to Newton Ernest and Alta Lavern Nielsen Kay. He married Rita Lynn Otteson January 13, 1968 in Las Vegas, Nevada. She died January 27, 2007.
He served as a paratrooper in the U.S. Army and retired from the Utah National Guard. He worked as and electrician and carpenter. He enjoyed gardening and outdoor activities. He was a wonderful father and loved being with his family.
He is survived by his children, Jason Rex Kay, Aleeca Kay, and Sharinda Kay; grandson, Kauner Rex Kay; sisters, Karen Mickel and Reva Maughan. Preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Clyde Kay.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, July 16, 2007 in the Nephi 1st Ward, 222 S. 100 E. Interment in Vine Bluff Cemetery, Nephi, Utah.
Marie L. Lester
1921-2007
Marie Lillian Boyea Lester, age 86, passed away July 10, 2007 in Nephi, Utah.
She was born June 29, 1921 in Malone, New York, to Wallace Joseph and Victoria Margaret Raville Boyea. She married Albert Earl Lester November 10, 1945 in the Notre Dame Church, Malone, New York. He died September 14, 1988.
Marie graduated from Franklin Academy in 1938 and from Malone School of Practical Nursing in 1968. She was employed for many years at Alice Hyde Memorial Hospital and the Franklin County Nursing Home. She also served many families in Malone as a private duty nurse. She did oil painting, crocheting, cross word puzzles, and loved Yankee baseball.
She is survived by her children, James A. Lester and Shirley M. Lester both of Nephi; grandson, Justin A. Lester of Bournedale, MA; many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her sister, Helen and brothers, Kenneth and Richard.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 14, 2007 at the Anderson Funeral Home, 94 West 300 North Nephi. Interment in Vine Bluff Cemetery, Nephi, Utah.
Marie Coray
Marie Stevens Coray died in a canyoneering accident in Knotted Rope Canyon on the San Rafael Swell Saturday July 14, 2007. She loved being outdoors hiking, camping, climbing mountains and exploring canyons. She was raised in Holden, Utah.
Marie graduated from BYU where she met her husband, Kimo. They were married on January 22, 1972 in the Manti LDS Temple and are still as much in love as they were then. Marie was a kind and loving person, always more concerned about others than herself. She was truly an extraordinary woman. She valiantly fulfilled her role as a mother, and raised 6 wonderful children. She has 12 grandchildren that she always enjoyed spending time with.
She is survived by her husband, Kimo; children, Carin (Jesse) Fausett, Florence (Derek) Harlan, Aaron (Kristina), Ammon (Sheryle), Jimmy (Shelly), Carole (Loran) Fuchs; sisters, Anna Parsons, Marian Andrus, Rose Dickens, Rulaine Nash; and twelve grandchildren.
Preceded in death by parents Bill and Ruth Stevens and sister Fern Radford.
Funeral services will be held on Friday July 20, at 11 a.m. at the Nephi North Stake Center, 1125 North 400 East, Nephi. A viewing will be held Thursday evening, July 19, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home, 95 West 300 North in Nephi. Internment at the Mona Cemetery.
