MONA PIONEER DAY ROYALTY • Reigning over this year’s Mona Pioneer Day Festivities will be Princess Kaitlyn Finch, daughter of Brock and Paula Finch; Prince Mason Wilkerson, son of Ian and Yalonda Wilkerson; King Cole Carter, son of Weston and Cheryl Carter; Queen Marissa Kendall, daughter of Dan and Cathi Kendall; Attendants Shaylen Allred, daughter of Shane and Alicen Allred; and Adam Perry, son of Slade and Rachel Perry.
Mona City will be holding their annual Pioneer Day Celebration on Saturday, July 21 at the Mona City Park. All are welcome to come and visit with family and friends, and partake of good food and fun.
Starting at 9:00 a.m., the flag will be raised. A parade will begin at 10:00; line up will be at 9:30 at 300 South 100 East. The parade will proceed down Main Street at 300 South. If you have any questions about the parade, contact Philip Bandley at 623-4454.
The DUP store opens at 10:00 with handmade crafts and goodies for sale. The DUP needs donations for the craft and bake sale. Please contact Dorothy Nielsen at 623-0258 with questions or donations.
The snack stand opens at 11:00. A fundraiser for Mona Elementary School with raffle tickets going on sale. Tickets can be purchased at the city office, from Gordon and Natalie Anderson, and at the south door of the city office on the day of the celebration.
Also at 11:00. a chainsaw carving demonstration will be held. Rides and games will run until 4:00 p.m. Wristbands will be available at the north door of the city office.
Got talent? Enter the talent contest which starts at 1:00 p.m. Participants must pre-register by contacting Audrey Bandley at 623-4454. Ages 12 and under, ages 13-17, and 18 and up, all prizes—1st place $50, 2nd place $25, 3rd place $15.
The Pioneer Cabin will be open from 2:00-4:00 at 330 North Main. Kids races (ages 1-12) will begin at 3:00 p.m. Drawing for the big prizes and to announce the parade winners will begin at 4:00 p.m.
Come kick up your heels at the Western Dance at 8:30 until the fireworks start at dark. There will be a youth dance after the fireworks until 11:00 p.m. Music provided by Tunes Mobile Music.
