  • Ute Stampede Western Parade to feature George Kendall as Grand Marshal

George Kendall has been selected as the Grand Marshal for the 70th Annual Ute Stampede Western Parade. His selection comes as a special honor. In 1901, celebrating Nephi's 50th anniversary, his Great-grandfather George W. Kendall was Grand Marshal of the Parade.

George was born and raised in Nephi. He moved to Levan in 1948. He enjoys horses and has been riding all his life.

He was a Deputy Sheriff under Raymond Jackson and Duane Sperry. He worked 18 years as Deputy Sheriff for the Ute Stampede.

He worked for NRP for 36 years and then retired.

George was President of the Levan Riding Club and was active in all the clubs activities.

George has been a Director for the Central Utah Back Country Horsemen for 6 years. During that time he has led and organized the Annual Chicken Creek Ride. He also led the riders on the child abuse benefit ride with all proceeds going to abused children.

He has participated in 5 wagon trains, including the Centennial Wagon Train from Salt Lake to Provo, Paragonah to Parowan, Gunnison to Cedar City, Payson to Nephi, and Birdseye to Manti.

George has ridden in three 4th of July Parades.

He married Marilyn Morgan in 1950. They have 5 children; Alan (Sue) Kendall, Kathy (Bill) Rice, Scott (Lynette) Kendall, Michelle (Jerry) Crofts, Julie (Mike) Mitchell. They have 17 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

George's love of horses and riding make the Nephi Nebo Posse proud to present him as the Grand Marshal. He is truly honored to have been chosen.
