  • Glade and Lucy Sanders Grand Marshals for the Mammoth Parade

Glade and Lucy G. Sanders have been chosen to be the Grand Marshals of the Mammoth Parade on Friday.

They are life-long residents of Nephi and are the proud parents of four children, Kirk, Linda, Ileen, and Merrill. They also have 12 Grandchildren and 16 Great-Grandchildren. They were married in the Manti Temple on June 6, 1939

As members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, they have served in many positions. Glade was in the Bishopric of the Nephi 3rd Ward and served on the Stake High Council. Lucy served in the Stake Relief Society and Primary Presidencies.

Glade and Lucy, along with help from their family, operated Garrett's Service Station and Convenience store which was known to many locals as Rob's. In the spring of 1961 Glade became a dealer for the American Honda Motor Company. From Its humble beginning, it has grown to be one of the most successful dealerships in the Intermountain West. They have won numerous sales awards including several trips to Hawaii and Japan. Their dealership has recently been featured on KSL radio and KJAZZ television. Since retiring, they miss seeing their friends and acquaintances who supported them in their business but have enjoyed spending time with their family and working in their rose garden.

Glade and Lucy are proud to have been part of the annual Ute Stampede and fondly remember building floats for some of the very first parades. They have attended each of the 68 previous Ute Stampede's and have enjoyed each one. They are proud to live in Nephi and have enjoyed watching the Ute Stampede grow into one of Utah's finest celebrations.
