Delanie Hathaway, former Juab School District Board President, informed other board members at their last meeting, that she would be resigning.
Hathaway is resigning due to work/schedule conflicts. She represents Juab School District #3.
"She has gone from part time to completely running the business," said Darin Clark, district business officer.
Hathaway is a financial advisor with Lovell Hathaway in St. George.
"She announced her intent at board meeting and submitted her letter later," he said.
Hathaway has resigned her position on the Board effective July 1, 2011. "We are seeking candidates to fill the remaining 18 months of the term of office," said Jim Shank, superintendent. "The district is sad to see Delanie resign and wish her the best in her future endeavors. She has done a wonderful job through the years in supporting students and staff at the local and state level. she will be missed!"
Shank said that the board had begun the process of replacing Hathaway.
"Juab School District is seeking candidates to apply as a board of education member representing District 3," said Shank.
In addition to having served on the board as vice-president, and president Hathaway also is a past president of the Utah School Boards Association.
"Although I sincerely regret the need to resign before the end of my term, a substantial increase in responsibility and travel associated with my job has created difficulty in balancing family responsibilities with the demands of school board service," said Hathaway.
"I count my school board service as one of the most challenging and fulfilling experiences in my life thus far and very much appreciate the opportunity to serve. I am grateful to the teachers, counselors, administrators and other school staff for their hard work and dedication in behalf of our students. I appreciate the other board members that I have served with and I am confident that the district is in good hands," she said.
Those who are interested in seeking to serve the remaining months of Hathaway's unexpired term must submit a written letter of application, expressing interest in the position, a resume, and respond in writing to the following three questions:
1. Why do I want to be a school board member?
2. What do I like about Juab School District?
3. What improvements would I like to see in Juab School District?
Application materials are due to the office of the superintendent by 5 p.m. June 8.
In January, the board determined to replace Hathaway, who had served the past four years as president and was senior board member, with Dale Whitlock, the newest board member.
