DEDICATION OF VETERAN'S MEMORIAL • Allan Kenison, member of American Legion Levan Post 24, dedicated the Levan Veterans Memorial on Monday, May 31. The Levan memorial was erected in December 2009. On Memorial Day, a dedication ceremony was given. The American Legion Rifle Ceremony and Taps by Post 24 of Levan, with head as Mike Royce, organizer of the dedication program, saluted our troops and those who had died in war and during peacetime. A welcome address was given by Mayor Russell Mangelson. National Anthem was sung by Amanda Brooks. Ralph Brooks and Stony Brooks gave talks about the project and about the people who had died whose names were listed on the memorial. A grant from the Community Improvement Board given to the town of Levan has made it possible for many improvements to be made over the last several years, such as; cattle guards, maintenance shed, sprinklers, fencing and excavation of additional land for cemetery expansion. Many donated hours of labor have been given to make this Memorial Monument possible. Through donated labor, it saved enough money so the town could afford the monument and use the grant for the additional improvements. The monument is located at the south side of the Levan Cemetery.
