  • Art in the Park: A new summer tradition

By Andrea W. Settle

Summer is here, and so are all the local traditions that hold memories for the older population, and will make memories for the younger. Throughout the summer, Juab County boasts great activities like the 4th of July Carnival, swimming at the city pool, the Ute Stampede, and the Juab County Fair. A new tradition is being added to that list: Art in the Park, sponsored by the Juab Fine Arts Council, and grants from Eccles Foundation, the Utah Arts Council and the National Endowment for the Arts, Washington D.C. This year's theme, "Art is for Everyone" covers just about everything, and there will be a little of everything at the Nephi City Park Friday, June 4 and Saturday, June 5.

Events on Friday, "Kids Day," will be focused on activities for kids of all ages. Classes and activities will begin at eleven and conclude at five. The evenings entertainment will have performances from the professional magician, Christopher Fair, and the professional storyteller, Cherie Davis. All ages are invited to attend, but children under eight must be accompanied by an adult at all times. Saturday will be filled with activities for all ages and interests. The Children's Parade will gather around 10:00 a.m. and classes will run until 5:00 p.m. Then stick around for the BBQ Turkey Dinner (see info below) and enjoy the evening's free entertainment: Phillips Family Fiddling, The Scrubs, and the bluegrass band Fire on the Mountain.
