Mona City Council agreed to a raise in pay after Mayor
Bryce Lynn made the suggestion that the council should
receive an increase.
The increase, which is not large, will be part of the
budget the city is now considering for the fiscal year 2003
to 2004, beginning in July.
"We need to have a public meeting which can be held on
council meeting night on June 24," said Everd Squire, city
treasurer.
Lynn suggested raising the pay of himself, as mayor,
and for council members by $15 each month.
Council members will, under the proposal, receive $85
per month and the mayor will receive $100.
The council holds two meetings a month, said Lynn, and
the pay has never increased to take that into
consideration.
"Maybe, if we increase the pay," said Cory Squire,
council member, "there will be some people who will be
interested in running for the council this year."
