Three people died in a single-car rollover 13 miles north of Nephi near Mona on I-15 Sunday about 12:50 p.m.

Killed were: Kathy Jewkes, 48, Salt Lake County; Chester Riley England, 21, Sandy, who was engaged to Heather Jewkes; and Courtney Jewkes, 7, Salt Lake County.

"The accident may have been caused by the driver falling asleep at the wheel," Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Doug McCleve said.

McCleve said Kathy Jewkes was driving an SUV north on the freeway when the vehicle drifted off the right side of the road.

Kathy Jewkes then responded by over correcting. At that point, the car veered off the left side of the road, traveled through the median and rolled several times while moving through southbound lanes of traffic.

"Traffic was delayed while EMTs (Emergency Medical Technicians) attended the victims at the site."

England and Kathy Jewkes' 21-year-old daughter, Heather Jewkes, were both ejected, McCleve said.

The driver, Kathy Jewkes, and England were both pronounced dead at the scene. Courtney Jewkes was taken by medical helicopter to Primary Children's Medical Center, where she died several hours later.

It appeared Courtney Jewkes was the only person in the car who was wearing a seat belt, McCleve said.

Heather Jewkes was reported in satisfactory condition Monday morning at University Hospital.
