Juab High School had a stellar showing at the Central Utah Sterling Scholar competition held March 20 at the Sevier Valley Center with six winners and four runners-up.
"Hard work, dedication, and a commitment to excellence! Way to go JHS Sterling Scholars, I couldn't be prouder," commented JHS Principal Royd Darrington on his Twitter feed.
A Sterling Scholar is a high school senior who is publicly recognized and awarded for the pursuit of excellence in scholarship, leadership and citizenship. They present a portfolio on their specific category and are interviewed by judges in the category's field.
These are the various winners in each category followed by the runners-up:
Visual Arts: Rachel Dye, Juab; Shelby Rasmussen, North Sanpete; Bethany Nash, Richfield.
Trade and Technical Education: Tyson Moosman, Gunnison Valley; Niki Nelson, Manti; Saxon Day, Delta.
Business and Marketing Education: Ashely Whimpey, Juab; Jandy Johnson, Delta; Tierra Memmott, Gunnison Valley.
Family and Consumer Sciences: Jessika Kenison, Juab; Kerisa Crane, Gunnison Valley; Kemri Stilson, Manti.
Dance: Lexi Topham, Delta; Savannah Behrmann, Juab; Shianna Lowry, Richfield.
Computer and Information Technology: Jake Prestwich, Delta; Jordan Crowther, Richfield; Breanna Fowkes, North Sanpete.

Overall, Juab had the most winners (6) in each category followed by Manti (4), Delta (2), South Sevier (2), Wayne (1), Richfield (1), and Gunnison (1).
Richfield had the most runners-up (7) followed by Manti (4), Juab (4), Delta (3), Wayne (3), Gunnsion (3), Millard (2), South Sevier (2) and North Sanpete (2).
Tintic High School in Eureka also competed in the competition.
