G. Richard Parkin
1935-2012


George Richard Parkin was born November 16, 1935 to Florence Alice Duckworth and John H. Parkin of Nephi, UT.  He served an LDS mission to the Eastern States 1955-1957 after graduating from Juab High School.  He also graduated from BYU and University of Missouri at Kansas City Dental School. He married his sweetheart, Janice Christiansen, November 25, 1959 in the Salt Lake Temple.
He served as Captain in the Army 1965-1967 during the Vietnam War Era. He owned a family dentistry practice for 33 years in Clearfield, UT. He retired from Dentistry and thereafter served a couple's mission, with his wife, to the Nigeria Lagos Mission. He served as a faithful member of the church, fulfilling many leadership callings as well as others. He later moved to St. George, UT where he shared his love for the outdoors with family and friends over the past 6 years until he was called home for his eternal mission with his Savior, Jesus Christ.
He is survived by his wife, Janice C. Parkin; his siblings, Robert (Adeline) Parkin, Claudia Jarrett, Charles (Phyllis) Parkin; his children, Sandy (Gregg) Farmer, Scott (Chris) Parkin, Clarin (Phillip) Beesley, David (Carolee) Parkin, Michelle (Deven) Roberts, Cheryl (Jon) Caldwell, Christopher Parkin, Holly (Jake) Stept, Matthew (Amy) Parkin; 31 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. His parting testimony to his family were "Be Good" and "I believe in Christ."
Funeral Services weree held at 12 noon Saturday, March 24, 2012, in the Nephi 1st, 2nd, 8th Ward Chapel, 222 E. 100 S. Nephi, UT. Interment in Vine Bluff Cemetery, Nephi, Utah.
