The last meeting of the Nephi City Council in the city
building was held on Tuesday.
From now on out, the council will meet in the large
meeting room at the new Nephi City Public Safety (Nephi City
Police Department) building which was once the Juab School
District office building.
Before that, it was a seminary building for the Church
of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
The former district board meeting room will now be
used by the council for their council meetings.
"Before the next council meeting," said Randy
McKnight, city administrator, "we will have begun remodeling
of the old council chambers into an addition to the city
library."
The justice court has physically moved to the county
building and will use the county court room for court.
Office space has been found for the city justice court
secretary.
"We are not certain what we will find when we begin
the demolition this week," said McKnight.
Once the walls that separate the library from the
addition have been torn down, he said, the city will plan
the new look of the library and will begin work on the
remodeling phase of the project.
"This room will be physically gone by the next council
meeting, if all goes as planned," said McKnight.
