Mona Recreation is in place and has plans that will be presented at the first of January. Melinda Matheson, Mona Recreation Director, discussed the future with the council at Tuesday’s meeting. “We plan to have a website in place by then,” said Matheson. It was in the plans to have tumbling classes on Tuesdays in the city center after the first of the year and said that she would coordinate all activities so that renting the city center to groups would not be a problem. “Tuesdays are our slow days anyway,” said Michelle Dalton, city secretary/treasurer. “We have 160 surveys in and more are trickling in,” said Matheson. Randy Christensen, city council member, asked what seemed to be the issue that stood out as something most surveys submitted seemed to have in common. “Ninety-five percent want to have recreation,” said Matheson. She said that there was lots of positive feedback about the programs that Mona has in place such as the Pioneer Day celebration, the Easter Egg Hunt, the community days in the fall and the Christmas celebrations. Respondents are also favoring having more movies in the park, said Matheson. “When we have them, they don’t come,” said Katrina Long, city council member. “And movies are expensive.” Long has been the council member over celebrations and events for the city. Matheson said she was hoping that more survey results would be in before she had to do the final report of results. Surveys are available at the city website. When people want to get in touch with her about recreation concerns, ideas or requests, she had an e-mail address. She asked that those who would like to contact her about recreation use the following e-mail account: monacityrecreation@gmail.com.
