Dean Fenton Tunbridge
1908-2006
Dean Fenton Tunbridge, 98, passed away on November 2,
2006. He was born in Levan, Utah, May 26,1908 to Albert
Alger and Daisy Funella Vickory Tunbridge.
Dean was a dedicated and loving husband, father, and
grandfather. He grew up in Levan, attended Levan Elementary
and Juab High School. He started working at a young age to
help support his family. He worked for his uncle George
Francom on his farm and the Salt Creek Ranch. He helped on
the first reconstruction of Yuba Dam. He also helped
building the road from Nephi to Levan and the road from
Levan to Scipio. From there he left with his sister Allie
and worked in McGill, Nevada.
He moved to draper in 1929 where he lived in a wall tent
as he built his home. He married Anita Lydia Felberg in
December of 1941 in Alpine Utah. Their marriage was later
solemnized in the Salt lake Temple on May 29, 1961. They
raised 9 children and lived their lives in Draper. Anita
proceeded him in death on April 17, 1996.
He was an active member of the LDS church and a great
home teacher. He was a extremely hard worker and a
meticulous carpenter. He served his country in WWII as a
airplane mechanic. He worked for Kennecott copper mine. He
built or helped build many buildings, homes and churches in
Salt Lake City and surrounding areas. He was a member of the
Carpenters union. He was a proficient farmer he loved to be
outside and in the garden and be on his tractor. He had a
love for Levan and the people that stayed with him
always.
Dean is survived by his children, Sharon (Lynn) Pohlman,
Pauline (Tad) Pope, David (Phyllis) Tunbridge, Alan (Ida)
Tunbridge, Marci (Scott) Steffensen, Dawn Marie (Woody)
Woods, Neil Tunbridge; 30 grandchildren, 27
great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; sisters,
Itha Green and Joyce Davis. He was proceeded in death by his
wife Anita, his sons Bruce and Gary, his daughter Carol
Bellon and two grandchildren Justin Tunbridge and Michael
Steffensen. Parents Albert and Daisy, 4 brothers and 3
sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday,
November 9, 2006 at the Eastridge LDS chapel, 11400 S. 552
E., Sandy, Utah. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. on
Wednesday, November 8, 2006 at Goff Mortuary, 8090 S. State
Street, Midvale, Utah. And one hour prior to the service.
Internment, Draper City Cemetery.
