An amendment to the county zoning ordinance was tabled
because of the lack of a number which would fit the new
county numbering system.
Glenn Greenhalgh, planning commission director, was
unable to attend the meeting held on Monday and so the
commission was unsure about which number should be
assigned.
Perry Davis, deputy attorney, and David Leavitt, county
attorney, advised commissioners to go ahead and table action
on the ordinance until Greenhalgh is able to be at the
meeting.
"The ordinance will remain as it is, basically," said
Leavitt. "This ordinance amendment will be an addition and
will be entered to amend the county code."
Two small changes were designed to be placed in the
ordinance on Monday. All of the preliminary hearings have
been conducted and no protest was entered.
One of those changes limits the places cluster
subdivisions will be allowed. The planning commission
recommended the change be made to prevent cluster
subdivisions from being built willy-nilly all over the
county.
It would appear that the amendments could easily be
inserted in the spot where they should be. However,
commissioners decided it was easier said than done.
"This is not a wholesale change of the zoning ordinance,"
Leavitt said. "It is just an amendment to some
sections."
County ordinances have recently been assigned a different
numbering system and only Greenhalgh was familiar enough
with the changes to know how the amendments should be
inserted.
The task seems simple&emdash;mandate a location. But
commissioners decided to wait to do the job until the
meeting to be held the first week of December.
"I would just feel more comfortable tabling accepting and
entering the amendments until next time," said Wm. Boyd
Howarth, commission chair.
