Ronald Stokes
1951 ~ 2020

Ronald Jed Stokes was born October 23, 1951 in Salmon, Idaho. He passed away October 21, 2020 in Idaho Falls, Idaho. He was the fourth child of six children born to Robert and Katheryne Stokes. He had three older brothers: Heber, Ralph, and Steve, and two younger sisters; Kathy and Tamara. He was raised in Salmon, Idaho. Jed attended school in Salmon where he played football and was involved in FFA. Jed worked at his parents’ store, The Idaho Farm Supply. Jed had a great group of friends with whom he maintained friendships throughout his life. He graduated from Salmon High School in 1970 and then attended Ricks College. He then went on an LDS Northern States Mission. Jed married Donna Treasure June 3, 1977 in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. After graduating from Idaho State University with his teaching degree they settled in Leadore, Idaho. Jed and Donna had two children, Jay and Jana. Jed and Donna were married for 35 years until she passed away in 2013. Jed taught every grade K-8th at the Leadore School. He was a coach, bus driver, career counselor, test coordinator, Special Ed teacher, and a Driver’s Ed teacher. Jed truly loved his students and took time out to talk to everyone and make everyone feel special. During summers he worked for the Forest Service and cut poles. One summer Jed also worked with his brother Ralph on the Aleutian Islands in Alaska. Jed was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he served in many callings. One of the greatest joys of his life was becoming “Papa” to his three grandchildren: Cambrie, Caleb, and Tate. He loved being a Papa. He spent countless hours playing with them, teaching them, and making them feel loved and special. After Jed retired he spent a lot of his time in the woods, building fences, logging, and ranching with Jay. In 2018, Jed married Sue Carlson. They enjoyed many adventures together. Throughout all of Jed’s life he was a genuine friend to everyone. Jed loved all people and was grateful for his wonderful friendships.
