Floyd Williams Jenkins
1914-2009

Floyd William Lee Jenkins born February 4, 1914 to Ada Mae Bowers and Alvin Whitney Jenkins, returned to our Heavenly Father October 11, 2009. Floyd married Alice Hunt March 21, 1942 in Elko, Nevada. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple.
Floyd proudly served our country in the Army during WWII, participating in the D-Day invasion and earned the Bronze Star while a member of the Red Ball Express. After Floyd returned home from the war he worked as a mechanic at the Silver Maple Station and then at Thermoid Rubber Plant from which he retired.
Floyd loved the outdoors, camping, hunting, fishing (especially with Ernest “Turn”), working his garden or just sitting on his porch enjoying nature.  He enjoyed westerns, sports (especially the Jazz and his “little Johnny Stockton”), and reminiscing about his trip to the Hawaiian Islands. He was a selfless man and as fiercely devoted to his family as one could be. Floyd would want Jodie to know that she is much like he in this way for she gave so much of herself to care for him in his last years. A special thanks to Lyle for supporting Jodie in Floyd’s care and to the Osbornes, and Oakeys for making Floyd an honorary member of their families. Thank you to Autumn Hills Staff and Udean as well.
Floyd is survived by his daughters, Marsha (Ted) Hone of Sandy, UT and Floy Thompson of West Jordan, UT.  Survived also by his half brother Lee Jenkins, Boise, ID, sister-in-law Myrtle Jenkins, Midvale, UT, brother-in-law Wendle Davis, Payson, UT, 8 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Floyd is preceded in death by his wife, parents, Uncle Henry Bowers and Grandfather Jacob Bowers who raised Floyd and “Turn” from toddlers, sisters Veda and Thelda, brothers Deloy and Ernest “Turn”, half-brother Bud, son Ronald, granddaughter LuAnn, great-grandchildren Mariah and Jacob Allan.
