SMOKE AND FIRE AS SEEN
FROM NEPHI This was the scene Thursday
afternoon as the Birch Fire roared its way up the
west slope of Mt. Nebo. The 2,821 acre man-caused
fire is now mostly contained and rehabilitation
work is underway to control erosion on the steep
slopes. As of Tuesday 338 people assigned to the
fire. Other resources were 4 helicopters, 10-hand
crews and 6 engines. On Thursday and Friday,
Aircraft were used to drop fire-retardant on the
fast moving fire as seen below.
