  • Council adopts changes in personal policies

Nephi City Council members voted to adopt two changes in the city's personnel policies.

One of those will allow for overtime pay in some circumstances and the other for compensation for those who are stand-by status.

"The first change will allow for overtime pay when employees participate in certain pre-approved activities funded by outside sources," said Randy McKnight, city administrator.

The second change allow for compensation for personnel who are on stand-by status.

Council member Darin Peterson made the motion to include the two amendments in the city's personnel policies.

"We want to be fair to our employees," said Brough. "These amendments make our policy more equitable."

•Nephi City Council members will be considering ideas to put in place to help celebrate the community's 150th birthday anniversary.

"In 2001, Nephi will be 150 years old," said Randy McKnight, city administrator.

"There have been several inquires concerning what the city is planning to do in 2001 to celebrate the 150th year of the settling of Nephi City," he said.

Council members agreed to discuss possibilities at a future work meeting.

"Residents of Nephi might talk to us individually if they know we were planning to celebrate," said Chad Brough, mayor.

He said comments from residents would be appreciated.

•Several new employees will be hired at Canyon Hills Golf Course to help complete the golf season.

"Some of the seasonal employees at the golf course are going to school and, for that reason, they will no longer be able to work as a seasonal employee," said Chad Brough, mayor.

"In order to continue operations at the golf course some additional seasonal employees will need to be hired," he said.

The city will hire Lance Ludlow, Jesse Brady, and Scott Wallace to complete the season.

•Business licenses were approved for several businesses at council meeting on Tuesday.

Licenses were approved for Dan and Lisa Woodland for DL Design. The business will operate at 660 South 300 East.

Teri Boyd will operate Allpro Computers at 641 North Main.

Herbert A. Roberts will open for business at 794 North Main. The business will be known as Castrite Foundry.

Antonio Guerra obtained a business license to operate as Wall Farms at 700 North Main.

Cody Higginson will operate Higg's Handyman from 53 East Center.

Cody Anderson, as Anderson Roofing, will operate a roofing business from 75 East 800 North.

No More Homeless Pets in Utah will conduct a veterinary clinic to neuter pets conditional upon the council stipulation that a state licensed veterinarian is in attendance when the service is offered in Nephi.
