Ellen Ruth Blackett Lucido
1930 ~ 2014

Our dearest grandmother, mother, sister, and friend Ellen Ruth Blackett Lucido, 83, passed away peacefully on July 6, 2014 in the Family Tree Assisted Living Center, Morgan, Utah.
Ruth was committed to her family, and wanted each and every one of them to know how much she loved and supported them. She cherished family time, enjoyed sailing and was always ready to travel to a far away land. She was an excellent cook, had a creative nature that knew no limits, could fix or make just about anything, loved hollyhocks, orchids, roses, and sharing chocolate malts and root beer before lunch with her granddaughter Lesa. Her beautiful smile, unconditional love, and spunky attitude will be greatly missed.
Ruth was born on August 11, 1930 in Nephi, Utah to Charles Kenneth Blackett and Ellen Gladys Ostler in a small home that her parents built together. She was the second born and the only daughter of four children. In 1942, along with her recently widowed mother and three brothers, she moved to Venice, California. She graduated from Venice High School in 1947 along with attending the Patricia Stevens Modeling School in Hollywood.
While working at Thrifty Drug in 1948 she met Stanley Lucido. They were later married on January 3rd, 1949 and had three children together. Ruth Ann, Louis Charles, and Stanley Ken. An adventurous spirit and entrepreneurial drive would take her and her family from California, to Beatty, Nevada, then on to Nome, Alaska and back again to Nephi, Utah. Throughout their marriage, Ruth and Stan owned numerous restaurants and bars, each one thriving and becoming a popular local hot spot. They did divorce, but remained friends and bound as family.
She continued to travel and loved the time she spent in each place she visited, especially in Italy, Rome, Thailand, and Denmark. She moved into the Morgan Valley in 1994 and lived in Enterprise, Petersen, and in Morgan City.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and very proud of her membership in the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. Genealogy was something she thoroughly enjoyed and she spent many of her hours building the family tree for her children and grandchildren.
Preceded in death by her parents, her oldest brother Kenneth Keith, her first husband Stanley Lucido, and her son's Stanley Ken and Louis Charles.
Ruth is survived by her daughter, Ruth Andersen, daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Lucido, grandchildren, Lesa Andersen Gilgen (Hoby), Stanley Angelo Lucido, Nichol Brooke Lucido (Alex), Rusty James Lucido, Vanessa Marie Lucido, Anthony Louis Lucido, great-grandchildren, Zakarie Andersen, Gracie Lucido, and Krew Lucido, brother's, David O. Blackett and Andrew Lynn Blackett, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A small grave side ceremony at the Nephi Cemetery in Nephi, Utah was held on Saturday July 12, 2014 where Ruth was laid to rest next to her parents.
Ruth's family would like to thank The Family Tree Assisted Living Center in Morgan, Utah for all of the wonderful care and love they gave Ruth; they truly became family. The family would also like to thank Encompass Hospice Services.
