
Clarence Enoch Paystrup has been chosen as the Grand Marshall for the 2013 Levan Pioneer Day Parade.
He married Bessie Greenhalgh from Nephi, in June 1941. They have six children, 30 grandchildren, and 67 great-grandchildren. Bessie died in 2011.
Clarence served on the Levan Town Council and as President of the Lion's Club. He farmed in Levan, worked at the Plaster Mill in Levan Canyon, acted as postmaster in Levan, worked for the State Road and Thermoid Rubber Company.
He left by ship in 1937 to serve as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Denmark. He and his wife served a mission in 1976 to New Zealand. They worked in the LDS Manti Temple for 17 years, where Clarence served as a sealer. He was also in the Bishopric in Levan and on the High Council for the Nephi Stake.
As a boy in Levan, he remembers the only water source in town being irrigation ditches, transportation was by horse and buggy, and coal-oil lamps were used for lighting. He also remembers when electricity was brought to Levan.
He attended school in Levan and graduated from high school in Nephi. He was active in various sports, played the violin, and sang tenor.
Clarence attended Snow College and Henegar's Business College in Salt Lake City.
