Levan Town Council presented the budget amendments for the 2013-2014 fiscal year, and the proposed budget for the 2014-2015 fiscal year at their June meeting.
The public was invited to make comments on either of these items. None were given.
The council reported that there were some amendments necessary for last fiscal year's budget.
Brent Taylor, council member, said that the majority of the changes were to the capital improvements fund. The town decided not to do some of those projects in order to save money for the Main Street improvement project.
"Just in case we need them this year," he said of the funds.
The Main Street project is progressing and the electrical work is on schedule. UDOT will soon be coming into town and start work on the water line. Traffic will be reduced to two lanes as they work on the line.
The proposed budget for fiscal year 2014-2015 which begins July 1 will be a little lower, said Elizabeth Hone, town clerk. The town is trying to save what they can to put towards the Main Street project.
Taylor said there are a few other water improvements they would like to do this next year.
One item that had been in the budget for the last several years, $20,000 for a shed at the town yard, may get done this next year. It was one of those projects that got pushed to the backburner.
Copies of the budgets have been available for the public to review at the town hall for awhile and can still be viewed during office hours, Monday-Thursday, 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
"The town is in an excellent financial position and has been for quite a few years," said Taylor. "You can come and look at our audit that we had last year, we actually increased in funds last year."
He said this year's audit would probably go down a little bit because the town had done some major improvements with the power lines and other stuff that needed to be done for several years.
