In order to further the Nephi City Airport project, Juab
County has been requested to abandon the use of a road.
The airport will actually go over the road.
"The county planning commission has recommended that the
county abandon the use of the road," said Glenn Greenhalgh,
county planning commission director. "It is also their
recommendation that the process for the road use abandonment
be started.
"Nephi City actually owns the road and the property on
both sides of the road," said Greenhalgh.
A public hearing is to be held and must be
advertised.
Commissioners discussed setting June 13, a Friday, at 7
p.m. For the hearing time.
Hearings of this type must be held after 6 p.m.
"We will send letters to nearby property owners," said
Jared Eldridge, county attorney.
The letters are to inform citizens of the plan to abandon
the road and of the hearing time and date.
Wm. Boyd Howarth, commission chair, suggested that
Greenhalgh, Eldridge, and Craig Sperry, county recorder, met
together and make plans for the meeting.
Eldridge will also check with the Utah Department of
Transportation.
"The meeting to determine whether or not the road use
should be abandoned can be held later, after the commission
has had time to consider public comment, if any," said
Greenhalgh.
