An apparent suicide victim was found in Juab County on
Monday, May 27.
Juab County Sheriff David Carter said the body of Asadour
Terastvadsad, 21, Salt Lake City, was discovered by Utah
Highway Patrol Sgt. Dave Rumsfield near Mills Junction at
1:30 p.m.
"Sgt. Rumsfield noticed a vehicle parked along the Mills
Road eight tenths of a mile west of Mills Junction," said
Carter.
The vehicle was west of the Interstate-15 exit along the
frontage road.
Carter said when Rumsfield stopped to check the vehicle,
which was empty, he noticed the barrel of a shotgun in a
nearby wash. He then noticed the body of Terastvadsad.
Juab County Sheriff's Office was notified and Sheriff
Carter, along with deputies LuWayne Walker, Greg Gurney, and
Justin Kimball and UHP Trooper Charlie Wilson all responded
to the scene.
"Terastvadsad was dead at the scene of an apparently
self-inflicted gunshot wound," said Carter. "There was no
note and nothing left by him indicating why he might want to
take his own life."
Carter said the death had occurred sometime between 7
a.m. and 10 a.m. that morning.
The man did have family members living in Salt Lake City
who were notified as to the suspected suicide.
Terastvadsad's body was taken to the state medical
examiner's office for official determination of the cause of
death as is always done when a death is unattended.
"We had no fatalities in the recreation areas of our
county during the Memorial weekend and so we were
particularly saddened when Terastvadsad's body was located,"
said Carter.
His office had been so pleased that there had been no
fatalities in the county over the weekend, he said.
