LOCK THEM UP • Nephi City Police Chief Mike Morgan says “You had better lock your trailers up”, as the local burglars switch targets and have broken into several in the Nephi area during the last week. Even this one, next door to one of Nephi’s Police Officers, should be locked up tight.

Lock your car, secure your house and, on top of that, secure your travel trailer.
One more crime to add to the list of concerns for residents of Nephi, in addition to those of home and vehicle burglary, is a concern for the safety of travel trailers.
“We have another new hot spot crime,” said Mike Morgan, Nephi City Police Chief.
A travel trailer, parked at a home located in Nebo Heights, Nephi, was illegally entered on Easter weekend, April 5 or 6, during the night.
It appeared that the crime occurred during the middle of the night. There was no forced entry.
“The burglars took a flat screen television,” said Morgan.
In addition to the television, a Playstation 2 and some games, walkie talkies and binoculars were taken.
Two trailers parked in a winter storage lot located near Droubay Used Cars on North Main Street, were broken into on Sunday, April 11.
A window in one of the travel trailers was broken but the owners could not find that anything had been taken.
The other travel trailer at that site was unlocked.
Morgan said it would help police if property owners would lock their doors in all cases.
“Locked doors may not prevent a crime but they will deter burglars,” said Morgan.
“Lock your doors,” he said.
In a significant percentage of burglaries, the criminal enters the victim’s home, parked vehicle or travel trailer through an unlocked door.
“Even the strongest locks in the world are useless if you don’t use them,” he said. “Homeowners should lock all exterior doors whenever they go out--even if they’ll just be gone a few minutes--and also while they’re at home, particularly at night.”
The same information should be used for travel trailers and for vehicles.
Lock things up and do not leave valuables where they can tempt a burglar.
