  • Eight to vie for Miss Nephi 2004


The annual Miss Nephi Pageant will be held April 6 at the 7th & 8th Grade Center Auditorium. The Pageant will begin at 7:30 p.m. Admission is $4.00 per person. The public is welcome to attend.

Serving as MCs will be Miss Nephi 2003 Britney Bowles and Don Markland.

Competing for the title of Miss Nephi 2004 are:

Brittany Webb is the daughter of Roger and Kathy Webb. She will perform a flute solo. "I have helped to promote reading in our community. I have volunteered at the nursing home, the elementary school, the middle school, and the high school."

Keena Casper is the daughter of Steve and Kaylene Stewart. She will perform a vocal and dance solo to "And All That Jazz" from the Broadway musical Chicago. She created a program entitled "Believe You're A Star!" which teaches young children in our community that within each of them is a shining star and each person has unique talents and abilities. She has taken her singing students to Heritage Hills Care Center to perform for the residents.

Whitney Worwood is the daughter of Jill Worwood and Skip and Danise Worwood. She will be performing a piano solo entitled "Solffegieto." Her community service platform is "Tutoring and Mentoring." She is a mentor for the Youth and Families With Promise program where she has befriended children with confidence building activities. She has also mentored children in other skills including reading and cheerleading. During the summer, she tutored third graders in math, language, reading and science.

Laeysa Sudweeks is the daughter of Mark and Cheryl Sudweeks. She will perform a vocal solo. "I've been teaching an animal science class. My parents have a program for teens and I've been teaching them to ride horses." She enjoys singing for the senior citizens.

Desiree Hoog is the daughter of David and Debbie Mosteller, and Dana and Denise Hoog. For her talent she will be presenting her art. For her community involvement, she mentors and helps special friends with their physical and occupational therapy.

Stefanie Warnick is the daughter of Mason and Joyce Warnick. She will be playing a piano solo entitled "Midnight Rhapsody." She mentors for Youth and Families With Promise. She worked in the radiology department at Central Valley Medical Center and helped children read at Nephi Elementary School.

Corrie Winn is the daughter of Mark and JoAnn Winn. She will perform a jazz dance. "I did a food drive for a local family whose father has been fighting in the war for over a year. I had local students write letters to the servicemen and women fighting in this war on terrorism."

Lindsey Rae Lundell is the daughter of Gary and Leanna Lundell. She will be performing a jazz dance. She is a volunteer at the Head Start in Price, where she attends college. She mentors and helps in the classroom, including here in Nephi.
