pounds of marijuana seized during traffic
stop.
On Saturday, February 5, 2005, Sgt. Paul Mangelson of
the Utah Highway Patrol stopped a northbound pickup truck
on I-15, south of Nephi, for a cracked windshield. While
talking with the driver, the odor of raw marijuana was
obvious about the vehicle. A search of the vehicle
revealed 197 lbs. of marijuana.
The two male occupants were from Phoenix, Arizona,
and were going to Salt Lake City.
Their bail was set at $25,000 in cash for each. The
pickup truck they were driving, a 2001 Chev, will be
seized.
The street value of the marijuana would have been
$800,000.
