Vilda Phillips

Vilda Anderson Phillips, age 92, passed away February 3, 2005 in Nephi, Utah. She was born June 13, 1912 in American Fork, Utah, to Stephen Lyman and Leah Kirkham Anderson. She married James Arnold Phillips October 16, 1933 in Nephi. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple in 1935. He died August 1, 1992.

Vilda was an accomplished seamstress, needlework artist and homemaker.

She is survived by her children, Patricia Ann (Sherman) Zeeman, George Stephen (Judy Ann) Phillips, Iris P. Tolley, Dana Jo (Val) Kelson; 13 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by four brothers, Emil, Wayne, Miles and Leo and a sister, Dorothy Lyman.

Funeral services were held February 8, 2004 in the Nephi 2nd Ward. Interment in Vine Bluff Cemetery, Nephi, Utah.


Robert Acil "Ace" Roundy

Robert Acil "Ace" Roundy age 89 passed away February 7, 2005 in Mona, Utah. He was born January 22, 1916 in Groveland, Idaho. The son of Edmund and Casie D Fullmer Roundy. His family later moved to Springville, Utah where he graduated from Springville High School and attended BYU and graduated from Utah State University. He was active in sports and wrestled for Utah State University.

He married Leola Vilate Watkins in the Manti Temple June 15, 1940. They had 5 children. Vilate passed away June 24, 1983. Ace later married Alice Rowe Newton on August 11, 1984 in Mona, Utah.

Ace served honorably in the US Marine Corp during World War II in the South Pacific as a 1st Lieutenant. He worked for the US Department of Agriculture for 35 years & spent many years as the 10 County District Director for the ASCS.

Ace was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He served in many positions and especially loved scouting. He was awarded the Silver Beaver Award. Ace and Alice served two missions to Rapid City South Dakota Mission working with the Souix Indians and The Church Educational System. He also served as a temple worker at Manti, Utah. He and Alice served in two Indian branches in Richfield and the family history center.

He is survived by his wife Alice of Mona; children, Sandra Roundy of Salt Lake City; Douglas (Susann) Roundy of Richfield; Lauralee Tidwell, Knoxville, TN; Duane (Chris) Roundy of Tacoma, WA; Phil (Pam) Roundy of Price;Edward (Brenda) Newton, Howard (Kae) Newton, Steve (Marie) Newton, all of Mona; 30 Grandchildren; 18 Great Grandchildren; sister, Thelma Bair of Glenwood Springs, CO.

He is preceded in death by his first wife, Vilate; brothers and sisters, Meyrle Fowler, Lon Roundy, Eugene Roundy, Ada Taylor, Leedale Harmer, Edmund Roundy; grandsons, Spencer Roundy and Raymond Newton

Funeral Services will be held Friday February 11, 2005, at 1:00 p.m. in the Richfield 2nd Ward Chapel, 805 N. 500 E. Friends may call at the Magleby Mortuary, 50 S. 100 W. in Richfield, Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and at the ward chapel on Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Burial will be in the Richfield City Cemetery with Military Rites by the VFW Sevier Post 5050.
