Lorraine Taylor Washburn
1931-2014


Lorraine Taylor Washburn passed away peacefully on January 21, 2014.  Lorraine was born December 15th, 1931, in St. George, Utah, to Byron Hegsted Taylor and Annabella Brooks Taylor.  Lorraine was an inquisitive child, who loved to learn.   She was gifted intellectually and excelled in school.  Lorraine received encouragement from many of her family, friends, and teachers in St. George to pursue academic studies.  She graduated from Dixie High School and Dixie College as co-valedictorian.  Throughout her years at Dixie High School and Dixie College she won many national awards and competitions for her writing, speaking, and debating skills. She attended BYU in 1952 and graduated with a B.A. degree in 1954 as valedictorian. Lorraine loved English and history, and wrote for several newspapers and magazines, publishing freelance articles for Time Magazine Inc. 
She married Philip Washburn on December 20, 1957.  They have seven children, Brooks (Sue Spencer), Gavin (Jill Layton), David (Sue Boyack), Laird (Deanna Cash), Bengt (Kelli Cahalan), Kristiane Pedersen (Scott), and Erika Taylor (John).  They have had 31 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren join their family.  Lorraine has always enjoyed teaching.  She taught in many auxiliaries of the LDS church; Primary, Young Women, Relief Society, Cub Scouts, and Sunday School.  Her favorite callings were with the youth, especially the Cub Scouts.  She was active in the Relief Society, serving as president for a number of years.  Lorraine and Philip served together on the LDS Church Correlation Committee, where Lorraine was one of the principle writers of the teaching manuals for all of the MIA courses.  While pursuing a graduate degree at BYU, she taught freshman English, but her main pursuits were always in the home.  She loved being a mother and homemaker.  Sewing and cooking were special hobbies and for many years she managed a direct sales company supplying bulk foods to customers throughout the western states.  She lived an amazing life, filled with many accomplishments and strove to teach, serve, and love her family.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 am on Wednesday, January 29, 2014, at the Springville Stake Center, 245 South 600 East, Springville, Utah.  A visitation will be held prior to the services at the church from 10-10:45am. Interment Manti City Cemetery. Olive J. Baxter Tislow
1925~2014


Olive Joyce Stapleton Baxter Tislow, age 88, passed away January 24, 2014 in Provo, Utah.
She was born August 22, 1925 in Marston, Bedfordshire, England to John and Louisa Harpur Stapleton. She married Dean L. Baxter 7/15/1944, he passed away. She married Edmond L. Tislow 1/23/1973 and he passed away.
She is survived by her sons, Patrick (DeAnn) Baxter, Cameron (Sandy) Baxter, and Rex (Gaylene) Baxter; 8 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husbands, Dean and Edmond; a daughter, Donna; 10 brothers and sisters; step-son, Stanley Multine.
Funeral services will be at 11 am Saturday, February 1, 2014 in the Nephi 2nd Ward, 222 South 100 East. Family and friends may call Friday evening from 6-8 pm at the Anderson Funeral Home, 94 West 300 North Nephi, UT and one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in the Centerfield, Utah Cemetery at 3 pm.


Donald Lynn Howard
1953~2013


The special angel of Addie and Ivan Howard, passed away January 23, 2014 at age 61 in Provo, UT.  Lynn was born in Payson, Utah  April 2, 1953. He was the youngest of thirteen children. Lynn was raised in Nephi until the passing of his father in 1976. He then moved to Hidden Hollow Care Center in Provo where he has resided for the past 37 years.
Lynn was loved dearly by all who knew him. He was a very special brother to his siblings. He was preceded by his parents and sisters Georgia Lee Howard, Margaret Bernice Webb, Bonnie Ruth Odgen. He leaves behind Ivan Bud Howard, Rexburg,ID; Deon Howard Arp, Mesa, AZ; Kathleen Afton Hunt, Nephi, UT; Degracia Howard, Nephi, UT; Edna Jefferies, Tekoa, WA; Elisabeth Jasper, American Fork, UT; Shirley Partridge, Delta, UT; Carol Fausett, Lindon,UT George Walt Howard, Nephi, UT.
Funeral services were held at Anderson Funeral Home in Nephi, Utah on January 27th 2014 and he was buried at the Nephi Vine Bluff Cemetery.

Kevin J. Butler


Kevin J. Butler 54, of Nephi, died peacefully in his sleep, Friday morning, January 24, 2014. He was born to LaMar Butler and Myrna Gasser Butler Jackson. Kevin was married to Shirley and together they had six children and were later divorced. He then married Linda Boss who preceded him in death, as did his father, mother and a brother.
Kevin was a crazy guy. He walked around everywhere barefoot. He preferred to live out in the mountains. He did odd jobs around the town to earn a few bucks. He was a loyal friend, husband, and grandfather to those he loved. He collected dream catchers and could often be caught whittling wood into crazy creations. He had a good soul and could make you laugh. He helped many people.
Brothers and sister are Randy(Shorty )Butler; (JR) and Janet G. Johnson Nephi; Glenda Hansen, Nephi; Paul Butler, Lapoint, UT; Cindy and (Steve )Lossee, Provo;( Ben) and Wilma Allen of Spring Lake, UT. Kevin wanted to be cremated and then a family and friends memorial so he could be there in his eagle urn. There will be a service the end of February or there about! A special account has been set up at Wells Fargo bank in Kevin Butler's name, to help the family with medical and burial expenses. Thank you Dr. Besendorfer and the staff at Central Valley Medical Center and Utah Valley Hospital. A very special thanks to Shasta and Mike Paye for all the love and support they showed Kevin . Kevin will be greatly missed by his family and friends.


CoDeal M.Brough
1919~2014


Eliza CoDeal Mangelson Brough, our sweet mother and grandmother, age 94, passed away and joined her eternal sweetheart, Lawrence, January 24, 2014 in Provo, Utah.
She was born March 25, 1919 in Levan, Utah to Lorenzo and Emma Eveline Rosequist Mangelson. She married Lawrence Don Brough January 11, 1943 sealed for eternity in the Manti Temple.
CoDeal and Lawrence enjoyed serving the Lord, spending 19 years as ordinance workers at the Manti Temple and at the Oakland Temple on a mission. Her greatest joy in life, besides her sweet husband, was her precious children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, Janet (BJ) Mora of American Fork; Ann (Robert) Shepherd and Steven (Belle) Brough all of Levan; 16 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, 6 siblings, and one grandson.
Funeral services will be at 11 am Wednesday, January 29, 2014 in the Levan LDS Chapel. Family and friends may call at the church one hour prior to the services. Interment will be in the Levan Cemetery.
