Ute Stampede Royalty selected. Queen was Bailey Nuzman. Her attendants were Mallory Jackson and Stacey Spencer.
Michael P. Morgan, resident of Nephi, requested a more adequate town hall meeting be held to discuss the Zephyr power transmission line project. He was not happy with the information that was given out during a public hearing held previously.
JHS track and field teams are back-to-back region champs. Both the boys and girls teams took the honors.
Nephi Fire Department show off their new 100 foot ladder truck and hold trainings for volunteers.
Royd Darrington was named as the new principal of Juab High School. He replaced Dr. Rick Robins who took on the role of superintendent of schools.
Juab High School had 160 graduates in the Class of 2013.
Nephi Swimming Pool and Splash Pad opened for full season with new equipment.

A groundbreaking ceremony was held for the new county courthouse located behind the current Juab County Complex.
Police nab suspects in cemetery burglaries. After the Memorial Day Holiday, residents noticed flowers and other items had been stolen from graves. Some suspects were caught in the act.
Dr. Rick Robins sworn in as new Juab School District Superintendent.
Enough is enough when it comes to dogs at large in Nephi. Residents want the city to do something about dogs at large.

Faulty GPS sends travelers wrong way to Burraston Ponds. Mona City Council members looked into getting the GPS readings corrected.
First ever "Cowboy Town" decorating contest for Main Street businesses and organizations was held. Winners included Boutique Across the Street, Sinclair, and Juab County.
High speed chase through Juab County ends in flames. A high speed chase that started in Utah County ended in Juab County with the suspect trying to flee and her car up in flames.
The 79th Annual Ute Stampede was held July 11-13. Grand marshal of the Mammoth Parade was Glenn Greenhalgh. Grand marshal of the Western Parade was Marlow Blackett.
Winners of the Bathing Beauty contest were Camrie Pexton, Kennedy Cowan, Kambree Worwood, Cheyanne Johnson, and Karlie Stephenson.
Mona City Pioneer Day Royalty were King and Queen, Jentry Pulham and Case Hansen. Attendants were Dallin Blake, Dracen Howarth, Ruby Beutler, and Rowdee Weaver.
Grand marshal for the Mona 24th was Calvin E. Neilsen. Grand marshal for the Levan 24th celebration was Clarence Paystrup.

Tour of Utah bicycle race returns to Juab County. Stage 3 of the race went through Sanpete County and over the Nebo Loop Road.
Alexis Finch crowned Miss Juab County. Her attendants are Hailee Garrett and Bailey Nuzman.
Nephi Aiport hosts first glider competition. Approximately 50 glider competitors came to soar in the skies over Nephi.
Centenarians will be honored by Nephi City Council. Those who live to be 100 years will have a special day proclaimed.
Community donations are needed to help pay for the lights at Canyon View Ball Park.
Public meeting held to take comment of TransWest Express Transmission Project.
Demolition Derby at the Juab County Fair sold out.
222 Fire burns 1,631 acres in Juab County. This fire started near Eureka and was caused by lightning.
John Samuelson instructs teachers at Nebo View Elementary during a back to school training. Samuelson took over as new principal of the school.

U.S. Congressman Jim Matheson made a stop at Juab High School to visit with history students and discuss current events.
Local businesses donate money towards the Canyon View Ball Park lighting project.

Heavy rains bring flooding to parts of Juab County. Heavy rains closed roads in the canyon and caused damage.
N.O.V.A. program gives 6th graders tools to deal with negative influences. This program was taught by Sergeant John D. Shepherd with the Nephi Police Department and was new to the schools.
Juab High School football team defeated Delta and Millard High Schools in same year, the first time ever. Juab had not beaten Delta since 1982.

October
A girls soccer club was started at Juab High School, the first ever.
Nephi City saw an upswing in the building market over the last eight months. 14 new homes, 16 commercial building permits, and 52 remodeling permits.
Nephi Public Library hosts first "Ghost Tours". Residents were able to take a hayride around town and hear tales of haunted locations around town.
The Canyon View Ball Park lighting project received enough community donations to get started. The foundations pledged a significant amount of money towards the project if the community would get involved.
Attorneys file civil complaint in 4th District Court against Randy Brooks citing relief from damages caused by the defendant. Brooks had restricted access to a road that led up the Mona Canyon.
County adopts new ordinance that creates an Community Development and Renewal Agency.
Nephi City adopts Dogs at Large and Vicious Dogs ordinance. Penalties became stiffer for dog owners whose dogs attack people.
Nephi Lion's Club would like to build bowery near new county courthouse and presented ideas to county commissioners.
Juab County Food Bank seeks donations. The shelves were mighty bare and volunteers asked that donations be made.
East Juab Ambulance was the overall winner in Halloween Town decorating contest.

November
The polls were open and voting commenced on November 5th. Nephi Mayor Mark Jones was re-elected, as were Greg Rowley and Kent Park. Mona City welcomes a new mayor, Greg A. Newton, and council members Molli Graham and Jeffrey L. Smith. Levan Town re-elected Mayor Russ Mangelson and council member Brent Taylor, and welcomed new council member Ryan Jackson.
The Levan Town election canvass was released amid controversy. Residents outside the city limits were allowed to vote by provisional ballot. Their votes were thrown out. The outcome of the election did not change, however, the final numbers did.
JHS performs "Princess Ida" as their musical. Ryan Hughes and Hayley Willmore played the lead roles.
Local businessman Russell DeMar Gadd was found dead in his home. Police investigated the death.
The baseball grandstand at the Levan Town Park will have to be torn down, according to a structural engineer. It was built in 1937.
6th Annual Christmas Light Parade was held on November 30. Winners were Phillips Family, Ed Park Family, JHS Band, The Old Store, Tony's Window Cleaning. Honorable Mentions were JHS Cheerleaders, Miss Salt Creek Outstanding Teen and Whitmore Mansion Bed and Breakfast.
Mona City starts first stage of erecting Veteran's Memorial at Mona City Cemetery. Plans are being made.

December
Senior Ball Royalty was Queen and King, Sara Davis and Walker Memmott, Courts: Elsha Diamse and Kiel West, Kenneth Reynolds and Kennede Lenhart, and Jessica Wallace and Josh Clark.
Testimonies heard in Ondi Williamson case. Williamson, owner of the Safari Motel, was charged with 7 counts of aggravated assault, interference with officer, and discharge of a weapon.
Hazardous waste caused significant damage to Mona City Wastewater Plant. Residents urged to watch what they flush down their toilets and pour down their sinks.
Residents will be billed for fire department showing up to put out illegal outdoor fires. Permits are needed and can only be used during certain times of the year for burning outside.
Levan Town rescinded cemetery policy resolution dealing with obstructions. Now no iron brackets or ornaments will be permanently allowed in the cemetery. They can only be put up on special days. Only those that are built into the mow strip will be allowed.
Norma Sherwood turned 104 on December 10, 2013.
County commission adopt budget for 2014; amends 2013 budget.
Utah lifts same-sex marriage ban; no affect in Juab County as of December 23.
Sub for Santa activities at high school bring in over $5,000.
