Bessie Elaine Fowkes Park Jones
1924-2013

Our dear mother, Bessie Elaine Fowkes Park Jones, returned to Heavenly Father on January 18, 2013.
Mom was born September 29, 1924, at home in Starr, UT. She is the youngest of 10 children born to Heber James and Ruby Down Fowkes. She graduated from Juab High School in 1942 and attended Henager Business College in Salt Lake City.  She married Duwane Marvin Park in June 1944. Their marriage was solemnized in the Logan Temple in April 1954. Marvin passed away in 1989. She was married to Garald (Lonnie) Jones from 1995 until his death in 2007.
A life-long member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Mom dedicated her life to service to the Lord, family, and community. In the Church, she served in Primary, Young Women, and Relief Society. Mother will be remembered for sharing her musical talents, including playing the piano and organ, and directing church and civic choirs and musical productions.  She is also known for her quilting and for the many miles she sewed on her sewing machine. She served two missions: the first with her husband Marvin to the Mississippi Jackson Mission, and with her second husband to the London England Temple. She was also an ordinance worker at the Manti Temple. After returning to Nephi, her great passion became the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers (Nephi and Mona Camps) and the DUP museum in Nephi.  She will surely miss her dear friends in the DUP.
Mother is preceded in death by her husband Marvin Park, parents, five sisters, four brothers, two grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.  She is survived by her children Linda (Larry) Jenkins, Tom (Lynn) Park, Pam (Greg) Brown, Juli Park, and Barbara/Bobbi Park; eight grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.  Mother valued education and is very proud all eight of her grandchildren have higher education degrees.
Thank you to the doctors, nurses and CNAs at the Central Valley Medical Center for the loving care you gave our mother.
Funeral services will be held at the Nephi 2nd Ward, 222 S 100 E, Nephi, UT on Thursday, January 24th, at 12:00 noon. Viewings will be held on Wednesday evening, January 23rd, from 6:00-8:00pm at the Anderson Funeral Home, 94 W 300 N, and at the Church prior to the funeral from 10:30-11:30am. Interment will be in the Vine Bluff Cemetery, Nephi.
