January
Nathan Wayne Fuell, born January 1, became the first baby born at CVM for 2007. Parents are Thomas and Elizabeth Fuell of Eureka.
David Church, attorney for the League of Cities and Towns, prepared an article for members of city and town councils to help meet the legal requirements of annexing property in the state of Utah.
A proposed annexation will include 657.19 acres of land to the south of Mona and will include property on both sides of the freeway.
Clark Bronson, CFO for Barnes Bullets met with county commissioner to request that they protest the inclusion of the plant in the annexation being proposed by Patrick Painter in Mona
As a new county commissioner, Chad Winn stepped down from the fair board. Jamison McPherson was appointed by the commission to serve as President of the Juab County Fair Board.
Stacy Brooks and Tracy Olsen were sworn in as new school board members.
Broken pipes in the upstairs ceiling of Juab High School caused around $100,000 in damage.
ProVita swept all categories and are again Region Champs.

The new tennis courts, located at the high school, are to be paid for by funds from Juab County, Nephi City and the Juab School District, however, no formal agreement has yet been signed.
The Sheriff’s office will own the drug dog, “Nick” who has been working in the county since August. His purchase was approved by the commissioners who agreed that the price of $1,700 would come from the budget of the sheriff’s office.
A six-month moratorium on all building in the county went into effect.
The JHS wrestling squad took home 2nd place at the State Championships held at UVSC.
Mona is once again open to subdivision development now that a moratorium, set in March of 2006, was lifted.

Members of the Salt Creek Foundation attended Nephi City Council meeting to discuss the negotiations which were supposed to be taking place between the city and the Nephi Irrigation Company.

Pheasant Ridge Subdivision has represented an ongoing problem for Mona city council members over streets that do not meet the grid pattern and Mt. View homeowners are ignoring city ordinances.
The Blackhurst Dairy, being constructed on property once belonging to Cary Peterson, is well underway, but Jim McWilliams wants several concerns addressed.
JHS Speech and Debate team took 2nd place in the 2A State Tournament.
Juab County does not want Snake Valley to be included in a Nevada proposal to take water from the area to use in Las Vegas.
Whitney Lundell is named Miss Nephi 2007. Attendants are Janelle Lund, Marina Orme and Kara Menlove.
Annette Lovell is name Woman of Achievement at Miss Nephi Pageant.

Junior Prom Royalty for 2007 is Janelle Lund and Landon Wickel.
Because of exploding growth, Mona looks to implementing a sewer system.
Ron Mortensen becomes the new recreation director for Nephi.
JHS Sterling Scholars include Mathew Neilson, winner in Speech and Drama; Megan Vance, winner in Foreign Language; Katelyn Peterson, runner up in General Scholarship; and Ashley Wright, runner up in Family and Consumer Sciences.
Ground breaking ceremony is held at Mona Elementary.
Marci and Savannah Blackett are named March of Dimes Ambassador Family for 2007.
A group of petitioners protested the proposed location of the Levan Animal Control Shelter.
The site for the Red Cliffs Elementary is difficult to work with and will require extra effort.
Members of the Early Day Gas Engine and Tractor Association met to plow a field owned by Gordon Young. Owners of these antique tractors got to work and share their love for these machines.

Congressman Cannon reintroduced legislation to authorize Juab County to participate in conjunctive use and other water supply management initiatives as part of the Central Utah Project.
Two residents asked the county commission to request that the sheriff reinstate the county search and rescue team. According to state statute, said Jared Eldridge, county attorney, one of the duties of the sheriff, granted him by the state legislature, is that he is to “manage the search and rescue services.”
Dr. Tatton retires after almost two decades of treating patients in Utah Valley Regional Medical Center’s Emergency department. Tatton started his practice at Juab County Hospital, now Central Valley Medical Center and Nephi Medical Clinic.
A compromise between two of the summer’s big events at the fairgrounds was reached. The Ute Stampede and the Mormon Handcart Pageant will cooperate in moving in and out their equipment.
Residents in the south west region of Nephi ask the city council to take action against a property owner to get the individual to stop posting vulgar signs.
JHS graduates 126 students.
The Mona Fire Station becomes part of the Juab County Fire District inventory.

Mary Wohlforth, Nephi, was named the new principal for Mona Elementary School.
Hot air balloons were flying high over downtown Nephi as part of the Nebo Air Fest. Rob Harrison, The Tumbling Bear, was a featured performer at the air show.
Over 100 RVs came to the Good Sams Club get-together at the fairgrounds.
The remains of seven Native Americans found at a construction site on 300 North were found to be executed, according to historic evidence.

The empty field at 1300 South and Main Street was officially turned into a construction site as groudbreaking ceremonies took place.

Chad P. Winn was named Grand Marshal for the Ute Stampede Western Parade. Iris Tolley was named Grand Marshal for the Mammoth Parade.
Salt Creek Fire erupts and burns over 18,502 acres, still not contained. The fire started near Camperworld forcing campers to evacuate. Residents are forced to leave and rangeland is destroyed.

Flooding is now a major concern for commissioners following the Salt Creek Fire. Rain storms could cause substantial damage to scorched land.

Convicted polygamist Tom Green was released from prison after spending six years in prison.
Half of all Utah farmers and ranchers have suffered losses from catastrophic wildfires,and years of drought. These are disaster that have cost the agricultural community millions of dollars.
Nephi City storm water drainage master plan will aided by aerial photographs. The city’s GIS system will be used to analyze watersheds to predict runoff due to past and future urbanization.
FiberTEK Insulation began building a manufacturing plant near the county jail.
Juab School District continues to tweak the policy to refine promotion of good health and good lifestyles in district schools.
The community of Rocky Ridge asks the county for help in improving the road from the railroad crossing into the community.

Karen Fenton has signed on to serve as new city attorney for Mona.
Construction on the additions to Mona Elementary nears completion.
Nephi City Council announces plans to expand Christmas holiday events.
Amy Taylor is hired to serve as new full-time victim’s advocate for the county.
The public is invited to attend a Town Hall meeting to learn more about the pros and cons of school vouchers, a hot topic on the November ballot.
Nephi Public Library asks for a user fee to be charged for those who live outside Nephi, whose taxpayers pay for the library.
After kicking around a coaches policy for a few sessions of board meetings, it was decided to kick it back to the schools and let it be a school rather than a district policy.

The 1st Annual Holiday Lighting Ceremony warms the crowds at the Old Mill Park on Main Street.
Over long Thanksgiving holiday, several break-ins were reported in a crime wave. Arrests were made. Damages were extensive.

The U.S. Defense Department has produced a draft environmental impact assessment on proposals to shoot practice missiles into the air over the West Desert in Juab County. Local ranchers protest the plan.
The U.S. Forest Service deepened the flood control pond at Jenkins Flat in Salt Creek Canyon as part of the fire mitigation program.
The state auditor’s office, in response to allegations of conflicts of interest and improper purchasing procedures regarding the construction of Mona City’s fire station and city hall garage, performed auditing procedures.
During the 2007 Easter break at Little Sahara Sand Dunes, some revelers were out of control. Southwest rangers called for tougher penalties for those who abuse the law.
