Forgive Me I Didn't Mean to Die

Just another day at Columbine High
The score on your test made you want to cry
Suddenly guns were fired and bullets began to fly
Forgive me, I didn't mean to die.

I watched you as you held me in your shaking arms
You moved us out of sight and hopefully out of harm
Your tears dripped on my face and they were oh so warm
Forgive me, I didn't mean to die.

Help finally came and people began to flee
You never left or let go of me
Your voice became distant, yet sounded so clearly
Forgive me, I didn't mean to die.

My spirit surrounded you in every single way
And somehow you knew I wanted to stay
You're sorry because you survived that fateful day
Forgive me, I didn't mean to die.
