By Myrna Trauntvein Several items were presented to the city council by the planning commission, some for action and some for discussion. “Mike Stringer [former council member] is now a member of the planning and zoning commission,” said Dennis Gardner, planning commission chairman. Lynn Ingram, former chair and now co-chair, will need to be replaced in the future but will not leave the commission until he has assisted with the proposed subdivision development plans of Cliff Hales, who wants to build a 146 home subdivision in several phases on Mona’s southeast section of town. “The conditions for Willow Creek Subdivision for Phases 1 and 2 were discussed and the preliminary application approved,” said Gardner. Each of the proposed building permits for other areas of town were presented by Gardner. Tim Marshall was to build a 36-foot by 32-foot Cleary Building accessory building at 317 South 200 East. That permit was approved with Ron Warren, council member, making the motion and Jay Mecham, council member, making the second with all voting in favor. “Next we have a request for an accessory building permit from Kelly Mitchell,” said Gardner. The building would be an 80-foot by 40-foot garage/shop at 60 South 200 West. TJ Pace, council member, made the motion to approve. Warren made the second and all voted in favor. Brandon Lish applied for an accessory building permit for a 24-foot by 30-foot structure at 638 South 400 West. Warren made the motion and Amy Stanley, council member, made the second. All voted in favor. Ashlee Clements was seeking a building permit for 371 South 200 East. “The home there is a modular and they plan to sell it and move it,” said Gardner. “They will then build a home.” He said they had existing power, water and gas service and had met all other requirements. Mecham made the motion to approve the building permit and Warren made the second and all voted in favor. Jeff Kay wanted a building permit for a lot at 105 East 700 South. Warren made the motion to approve, Pace made the second and all voted in favor. “He is really anxious to get the permit,” said Gardner. “He has already dug the hole.” “They can do that,” said Michelle Dalton, city secretary/treasurer, “as long as they do not put any forms or cement in place.” Nevertheless, she said, they should understand that if they are not approved they will be required to fill in the hole. Kay also had some split lot questions for the commission, said Gardner. His questions were answered and no further action was required. For future information, he said, Kay was hoping to split the one-half acre required for building a single family dwelling from the two and a half acres he owns. Jonathan Jones had land acquisition questions. There are lots behind his property on the north side and he wondered about using that area for building lots for his family. There is room enough but he would need to obtain water. “Howard Newton had a subdivision inquiry for us,” said Gardner. “He has water but would need to build a road.” Newton has a 66-foot right of way and has permission from a neighbor to add what was needed. |
